Overview
Maintenance team members assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing maintenance support. This position is responsible for ensuring resident and staff safety by performing repairs to buildings and furnishings, as well as maintaining grounds including lawn care and snow/ice removal.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with and perform duties related to electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry (including furniture refinishing or repair), mechanics (including equipment and mechanical systems), and heating, cooling, water systems (excluding those under outside service contracts).
- Maintain grounds, parking lots, and driveways, including snow and ice removal (excluding contracted services).
- Handle incoming and outgoing freight; lift and move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
- Respect residents' rights and treat all residents with courtesy, respect, and kindness.
- Drive company vehicle as required/requested.
- Arrive on time, work as scheduled, and be responsible for personal transportation.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and privacy during job duties.
- Attend facility and staff meetings, and participate in required or optional training sessions.
- Contribute ideas to improve resident care quality or increase job satisfaction and productivity.
- Follow safety rules and standards to ensure the safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
- Understand and reference all policies and procedures relevant to the role.
- Provide high-level customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
- Adapt flexibly to changing situations and reprioritize tasks as needed.
- Respond to off-hours calls (evenings and weekends) and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Use the electronic timekeeping system as directed.
- Wear the designated dress code, including a name tag at all times.
- Follow policies regarding electronic devices, computers, and tablets.

Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years old
- At least one year of related experience in maintenance, carpentry, contracting, or similar fields
- Valid driver’s license
- Participation in the facility on-call program, including potential off-hours work
- Experience operating equipment such as hand tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Genuine concern for the elderly, dependable, patient, and compassionate attitude towards residents
- This role involves regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. It requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
