Lieferando, part of Just Eat Takeaway.com, seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop intelligent applications for logistics operations. You will join the Data Science team within the Product and Technology group, collaborating with engineers, developers, analysts, and researchers to design, build, and productionize ML systems addressing supply and demand challenges.

The role is based in Berlin with a three-day-a-week office presence and two days working from home, offering

Competenze

• Strong experience in machine learning for real-time data and forecasting in logistics or related domains.
• Proficient Python programming and software engineering skills.
• Experience deploying ML solutions on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
• Familiarity with microservices, event-driven architecture, serverless patterns, and cloud patterns.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to help develop intelligent applications for our logistics operations. You will join the Data Science team within the Product and Technology group, collaborating with engineers, developers, analysts, and researchers. Together, you will design, build, and productionize machine learning systems that address challenging supply and demand problems.

In this role, you will help optimize logistics algorithms and support a reliable, efficient, and profitable delivery service. Your work may span use cases such as predicting delivery times and addressing pricing challenges. You will take machine learning ideas from research and experimentation through implementation, deployment, and ongoing improvement, ensuring that solutions are useful in real-world product environments.

This position is based in Berlin. The working arrangement is three days a week from the Berlin office and two days working from home.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in machine learning, particularly developing real-time data streaming technologies for forecasting or logistics products.
• Strong software engineering and coding skills in Python.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and productize and deploy solutions using cloud services such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, serverless computing, and cloud architecture patterns.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and deploying applications in production. Experience with Airflow, MLflow, Docker, or Flink is an advantage.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and contributing to engineering and machine learning best practices.
• Experience operating real-time production systems at scale, including systems handling millions of requests or transactions per day.
