Our client, a fast-growing, private equity-backed buy-and-build platform in the German commercial insurance broker market, is looking for an M&A associate to join its holding team in Düsseldorf and support the full transaction process alongside the head of M&A.

Our client is a growth-oriented group with a clearly defined buy-and-build strategy in the German market. Backed by a leading pan-European private equity investor, the group acquires and develops specialised insurance brokers serving corporate and commercial clients and already ranks among the top 20 brokers in Germany.

To support its next phase of growth, our client is looking for an M&A associate to join its holding team in Düsseldorf. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious M&A professional to gain early, hands-on exposure to live transactions and take on more responsibility over time in an entrepreneurial, investor-driven environment.

What the job involves

• Screening and analysis of potential acquisition targets
• Preparing market and competitor analyses
• Contributing to financial models and company valuations
• Supporting the coordination of due diligence processes
• Preparing presentations and decision papers for management and the investor
• Supporting contract negotiations and closing processes
• Working closely with the head of M&A as well as internal and external stakeholders

Who we are looking for

• Multiple years of relevant experience, e.g. in transaction services, M&A advisory, corporate finance, audit, corporate development or investment banking (analyst level)
• Experience in a PE-backed or acquisitive corporate environment is a strong plus; exposure to insurance or financial services is beneficial but not required
• Solid financial modelling and valuation skills, strong analytical abilities and a high affinity for numbers
• Structured, reliable way of working, clear communication and a high degree of initiative
• Team player with a collegial mindset and a strong willingness to learn
• Fluency in German and English
