Remote within DACH | 10-20% Travel in Central Europe

A Global market leader in the distribution of regulated products is looking for a Transport Excellence Director to drive transformation across its largest and most commercially significant region - DACH. With over 15,000 employees worldwide, this organisation also supports critical supply chains across multiple industries and geographies.

This is a strategic and operational role with high visibility, ideal for someone ready to take on a challenging individual contributor position, adding value from many years of experience in optimising, analysing and improving large-scale transport.

Enjoy full flexibility to work remotely anywhere in DACH, with occasional travel (10-20%) to engage with key teams and sites across the region.

Role & Responsibilities

• Own and lead the transport strategy and performance across the DACH region, ensuring alignment with wider EMEA goals
• Identify and drive efficiency, service, and sustainability improvements across road transport networks (multimodal, but heavy focus on road)
• Collaborate closely with regional operations, procurement, and logistics teams to enhance service levels and cost-effectiveness
• Implement transport KPIs and performance dashboards, using data to inform strategic decisions and supplier management
• Lead cross-functional operational excellence projects focused on transport optimisation, carrier performance, and digital tool adoption
• Support the integration of best practices across countries, standardising processes and improving visibility
• Responsibility for tendering processes and complex contract negotiation with service providers
• Influence key stakeholders within a matrix structure to drive results and alignment across regional supply chain functions

Your Profile

• Proven senior experience in transport logistics within a regional or multinational setting, with several years' experience related to dangerous goods and the regulated environment
• Expertise in road freight, carrier management, and network optimisation
• Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in transport performance metrics, cost control, and operational excellence initiatives
• Skilled at navigating complex organisations and building alignment across diverse teams, leading complex projects
• Deep understanding of transport and legal regulations
• Evidenced track record in leading tender and contract negotiations
• Fluent in English and German; other Central European languages a plus
• Willingness to travel occasionally (10-20%) across Central Europe
