Overview

Please, only apply if you have a valid Attorney at Law license and are authorised to practise law by the Regulation Authority in Germany. About AirAdvisor

AirAdvisor is dedicated to ensuring air travelers receive the compensation they are entitled to for flight disruptions. We handle delays, cancellations, missed connections, and airline-related issues such as overbooking. In June 2025, we launched a new service for baggage claims for lost, delayed, and/or destroyed luggage. We operate in the EU, UK, and other international markets, offering multilingual support (currently in 21 languages, with 9 more forthcoming) and a mission to protect air passenger rights globally. We have processed over 500,000 claims for clients from 221 countries, with a 4.7-star rating from 25,850+ reviews, and we aim to reach 1 million claims by the end of 2026.

We are seeking a highly skilled Litigation Lawyer specializing in consumer flight claims (typically via small claims procedure) to lead in-court collections, potentially starting or joining a boutique Legal Firm in Germany. Pre-court collections are managed by a team of paralegals. You will file batches of court cases to recover compensation and/or reimbursement of Out-of-Pocket Expenses (OPE) incurred by passengers and/or recover ticket refunds. AirAdvisor currently handles three types of airline claims: EU261 compensation for delays, cancellations, and denied boarding, and three types of baggage claims under the Montreal Convention: lost, delayed, and/or destroyed luggage.

If the law or a judge decides a case unfairly, we would consider escalating to change the law where feasible. There may be PR opportunities regarding court victories and essential legal issues to raise public awareness. This is an excellent opportunity for high performers who can self-perform, have strong litigation experience, and have a passion for advocating consumer rights in the airline industry.

The candidate must be free from conflicts of interest (free to litigate claims against different airlines).

Requirements :

  • A valid Attorney at Law license in Germany and professional liability insurance.
  • A law degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with small claims, consumer rights, or aviation law is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of relevant consumer protection laws and aviation regulations is a plus but not required.
  • Proven track record of success in in-court collection.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case merits, conduct legal research, and develop effective legal strategies.
  • Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and track statute of limitations.
  • Experience in automating and standardizing claims management processes to scale up quickly.

Responsibilities :

  • Act as the legal representative of AirAdvisor in Germany, handling all legal matters and claims filed within the jurisdiction. If setting up a law firm in Germany were feasible, you would assist in this matter, including corporate structuring, registering Mr. Anton Radchenko on the official list of foreign legal counsels in Germany, and other formalities.
  • Pre-court collections and out-of-court settlements.
  • Prepare and file batches of approximately 200+ new claims monthly in German courts against various airlines for the purpose of recovering: a) Compensation under EU Regulation 261 / 2004 and/or Turkish SHY Regulation for delays, cancellations, and denied boarding; b) Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses under EU261 / 2004 and/or the Montreal Convention; c) Ticket refunds owed to passengers; d) Baggage-related claims under the Montreal Convention and/or Warsaw Convention.
  • Respond comprehensively and assertively to airline legal defenses, including substantive arguments as well as procedural and jurisdictional challenges.
  • Lead the enforcement of court judgments, including initiating enforcement proceedings and coordinating with bailiffs or enforcement authorities when necessary.
  • Engage in court-led settlement negotiations and, where applicable, represent AirAdvisor’s interests in securing favorable in-court settlements.
  • Maintain complete and accurate legal case files, ensuring compliance with applicable ethics, data protection regulations, and professional standards. Conduct thorough legal research and comparative analysis to compile best practices for managing recurring legal issues in airline and consumer rights litigation.
  • Stay informed about developments in consumer protection law, aviation regulations, EU regulations, and judicial precedents to provide updated, authoritative legal advice and representation.
  • Where applicable, pursue legal remedies including appeals, and advocate for legislative changes if strategically and procedurally feasible.
  • Support the optimization and automation of claims management workflows, leveraging legal technology solutions, including AI-based tools, to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Identify and propose new civil claims business opportunities viable under relevant law and offering low-value, high-volume litigation potential, including areas such as bank/financial disputes and labour law-related claims. Conduct cross-jurisdictional legal research to identify precedents that may be adapted for use in Germany.
  • Represent AirAdvisor in local media as needed, coordinating with PR to highlight landmark rulings or critical legal developments.
  • Review and vet content as needed to help build local trust and authority.
  • Advocate for passenger and consumer rights within the airline and travel industry.

Soft skills :

  • Professional, ambitious, and open to testing new AI optimization solutions.
  • Self-aware, honest, and able to take responsibility for mistakes while driving continuous improvement.
  • Result-oriented with the ability to deliver fast and make a significant business impact.
  • Independent, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Devotion and commitment to customer satisfaction, willing to go above and beyond to achieve goals.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

We offer :

  • Remote-first culture with flexible start and end times; time tracking ensures flexible daily schedules.
  • Paid time off and public holidays for work-life balance.
  • Annual pay review and performance-based bonuses.
  • Professional growth opportunities in global expansion and new market entry.
  • Dynamic work and opportunities to learn in new ways.
  • Supportive team culture with smart, passionate colleagues across 11 countries.
  • Job type: Indefinite-term Freelancing Contract / Service Agreement or B2B Contract.
