The

HPC Gateway

project of the German Helmholtz Association

aims to open the knowledge and resources of Helmholtz centers to commercial entities to foster new strategic developments for German business. Helmholtz Munich

will provide extended expertise around health and medical related topics with emphasis on AI applications. The Digital Transformation and IT Department (DigIT) supports the renowned researchers and administrative departments of Helmholtz Munich in a vibrant international environment with all aspects of a modern, forward-looking IT and office infrastructure and acts as a central driver of digital transformation. In collaboration with highly dynamic and innovative research teams, we provide a range of services and applications, from standard workstations to artificial intelligence and deep learning. The digital transformation is a strategic guiding principle for the development of the center, and we promote agile and digital skills throughout the center.

The “HPC Gateway” project at Helmholtz Munich is looking for a Linux IT Expert (f/m/x) in up to full-time employment.

Your tasks
  • Design, build, and maintain a Trusted Compute Environment (TCE) according to the guidelines of the Confidential Computing Consortium
  • Write governance and policy documents that can be submitted to Data Protection Offices
  • Onboard external customers, train them and help run projects on the TCE
Your profile
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics or a related technical subject from a university with internationally recognized quality standards
  • At least 3 years of professional experience
  • Experience in setting up software on Linux
  • Experience with Docker container and KVM virtualization on Linux
  • Experience with installing OpenStack is advantageous
  • Good communication skills in Englisch; German is a plus

If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 13. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). This position is for a fixed term of 1 year.
