We are seeking local-based Line Pipe Lead Inspectors in the greater Nordrhein-Westfalen, Saarland, Niedersachsen areas for freelance, ad hoc inspections at local manufacturers.

1. Scope:

Ensure all inspection instructions are performed competently and timely.

2. Functions relate to:

• Internally: Operations Manager, Coordinators, Technical Manager
• Externally: Suppliers, Clients

3. Tasks (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly):

• Review assignment instructions for adequacy and practicality.
• Attend pre-production and other relevant meetings.
• Coordinate with clients and relevant parties on inspection stages and requirements.
• Inspect drawings, designs, and specifications for piping, valves, pressure vessels, and other mechanical equipment, ensuring customer requirements and procedures are followed.
• Visit manufacturers, suppliers, and installers as necessary to perform or witness inspections.
• Provide timely reports of inspections performed or witnessed.
• Ensure all activities comply with Intertek work instructions and procedures.
• Utilize new technologies within Intertek, such as e-reporting systems and remote inspection tools.

4. Competences and experiences:

A minimum of 5 years' employment with manufacturers or constructors of relevant products or materials, gaining knowledge of manufacturing and inspection processes. Educational qualifications may include:

• University degree
• National Higher Education
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent

If lacking formal qualifications, at least 10 years of relevant experience is required.

• Valid Driver’s License
• Proficiency in English

Preferred qualifications for mechanical inspection include:

• European Welding Engineer or equivalent (e.g., CSWIP, CWI, AWS)
• ISO 9712 or ASNT certifications
• NACE CIP Level 2 or FROSIO
• ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor

Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment:

Be familiar with company policies on OHS and environmental issues, ensure their implementation, and investigate incidents thoroughly. Be aware of specific on-site health, safety, and environmental policies.
