1. Job Purpose
The role provides legal advice on Luxembourg insurance laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with local prudential and conduct requirements and supporting with the interactions with local regulatory authorities. The lawyer will also contribute to regional legal projects, offering expertise across jurisdictions.
2. Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience/Knowledge
- lawyer qualified in Luxembourg or with at least 6-8 years of post-qualification experience or, if not qualified, with similar experience working in the legal department of general insurance companies.
- solid experience in Luxembourg and European insurance laws and regulations.
- proficiency in English and French (written and spoken). Other European languages may be considered a plus.
- experience in advising on cross-border legal matters within a European and/or international context.
- experience in regulatory interactions.
- strong communication and stakeholders management skills
3. Job Accountabilities
- To be a trusted adviser to the business by promptly providing commercially sensitive, pragmatic and practical high-quality legal support and advice in a cost-effective manner.
- To provide support and guidance to the EMEA region and to the wider AIG group, regarding legal risks arising in candidate’s area of expertise.
- To advise on the impact of regulatory and legislative developments in Luxembourg and ensuring that any such developments are adequately reflected in transaction documentation and businesses processes.
- To coordinate our horizon scanning processes, ensuring that changes of laws and regulations in the region are identified and implemented in coordination of country/global stakeholders.
- To maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with all team members of GLCR, and more broadly with the broader AIG.
