The Lead Systems Engineer Representative is a critical liaison role, embedded with mission partners at designated locations to ensure sustained visibility, coordination, and support for both HNI and OPS mutual items of interest. The Systems Engineers will work closely with HNI Program Managers (PMs), MAJCOM A6s, and other organizations designated by the Government Sustainment PM to facilitate seamless communication and mission support. Responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software, and monitoring system performance. The role requires experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The position may involve leading and directing others, with a high degree of creativity and latitude expected.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between the operations community and the Program Management Office (PMO) at all AFIN fielded locations.
- Provide technical field representation for Sustainment, ensuring effective communication between Operations (OPS) and HNIB at meetings and conferences.
- Maintain situational awareness of HNI-supported systems by participating in meetings, conferences, and working groups to relay vital information to local units.
- Engage in commander conferences, staff meetings, A6 director calls, Integrated Product Team (IPT) calls, section meetings, and other relevant briefings involving AFLCMC/HNI deployed systems and cyber infrastructure.
- Participate in customer meetings, providing regular updates to MAJCOM, NOS, and base personnel on program status, progress, risks, and schedules.
- Work with the Government Sustainment PM to address program issues, concerns, or questions, and propose solutions.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings among stakeholders to resolve program-related issues.
- Support the AFLCMC/HNI ARC team with incident updates, communication, remediation, and escalations.
- Promote sustainment services and benefits to the OPS community.
- Conduct daily operations briefings and participate in various review boards such as CCB, ERB, DRB, Ticket Review, ARC Ticket Review, and CAB.
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit a monthly FER Field Report for the Integrated Data Environment (IDE).
- Summarize work accomplished by FERs, categorized by MAJCOM and Program, and its impact on schedule, cost, and performance.
- Report ongoing issues/risks and status of prior FER requests.
Additional Duties & Tasking
- Provide engineering support and troubleshooting for AFLCMC/HNI projects and sustainment efforts.
- Perform on-site/off-site engineering efforts, including equipment configuration, troubleshooting, and installations, as approved.
- Assist in validation and verification of Technical Orders (TO) and Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO).
- Create and manage change requests within EITSM and Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs).
- Travel as required to support mission needs.
- Conduct data calls and site surveys as needed.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance required.
- Strong technical expertise in sustainment, operations, and cyber infrastructure.
- Ability to liaise effectively between technical teams and operational units.
- Experience with AFLCMC/HNI systems and Air Force network operations preferred.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Troubleshooting and resolution skills in technical environments.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Office 365, and related tools.
Certifications
- Information Assurance (IA) Technician (IAT) Level II.
- ITIL Foundation (v3 or higher).
- Project+ certification.
- CompTIA Cloud+ or higher.
