Peter Park System GmbH is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Munich to drive technical vision and own end-to-end delivery of high-traffic parking software. You will mentor engineers, align with product strategy, and shape architectural decisions for scalable and secure systems.

The role demands strong hands-on expertise in TypeScript/Node.js, Python or C++, cloud architecture (AWS), and experience with CI/CD and Kubernetes.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll turn ambitious product goals into software that moves our business forward. Our Objectives and your Role:

• Drive the Technical Vision:Define and evolve the architecture of the systems your team owns, ensuring they are scalable, secure and aligned with long-term product strategy.
• Align Engineering with Strategy:Act as a technical counterpart to product and business stakeholders, translating company objectives into engineering initiatives with measurable impact.
• Shape the Product:Work closely with Product and Design to improve what we build, and ship features end to end, from API to UI, that create real value for our customers.
• Own Delivery End to End:Take accountability for projects from concept to production and beyond, defining clear scope and milestones, and communicating delivery risks early while maintaining reliability and quality.
• Champion Engineering Excellence:Set the bar for clean, performant and maintainable code; foster a culture of high standards and technical curiosity.
• Technical Leadership & Mentoring:Guide engineers through mentorship, coaching and clear technical direction to grow the team's capabilities and autonomy.
• Elevate Operational Maturity:Monitor and continuously improve the performance of your systems; lead improvements to observability, CI/CD and developer workflows, ensuring systems are resilient and teams can ship confidently.
• Embed Security by Design:Take responsibility for the security posture of your systems, ensuring they meet best practices and compliance from the ground up.
• Be a Force for Innovation: Stay ahead of trends and emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development & push those into the department; drive continuous improvement in how we build, scale and operate our systems.

Your Expertise, Skills & Mindset:

• Real Seniority:Not defined by years of experience but by a drive for continuous improvement, direct business impact, and ownership. You've worked at a senior or lead level and owned production systems end to end.
• Technical Leadership:Proven experience guiding engineers through mentoring, code reviews and clear technical direction.
• Strong Engineering Foundation: Strong proficiency in at least one of TypeScript/Node.js, Python or C++, and hands-on experience with the corresponding frameworks, such as NestJS, Fastify, FastAPI or Flask, or Vue.js on the frontend.
• End-to-End Mindset:Experience shipping product features across the stack, with a solid understanding of both backend concerns (APIs, data models, services, performance) and frontend concerns (UI, usability).
• Cloud Expertise:Solid understanding of AWS (or a comparable provider) and cloud architecture.
• CI/CD:Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and containers; experience with Kubernetes or Terraform is a plus.
• High-Throughput Systems:Experience building and running high-traffic systems in production.
• Monitoring & Observability:Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog.
• Security & Networking:Security Awareness: Good understanding of security best practices in software and the cloud.
• Agile & Fast-Paced Environments:Experience in agile teams in dynamic, fast-growing tech environments.
• Excellent Communication:Strong English communication skills (C1+) and the ability to collaborate across teams. German proficiency is not required.

• Backend:Event-driven microservices Typescript (NestJS).
• Frontend:Monorepo powered by Turbo, pnpm, changesets, and Storybook, primarily using Vue.js.
• IoT:Linux-Based software running in C++, Python, Typescript or Go.
• Frameworks/Libraries:Adoption of TypeScript, NestJS, BullMQ, and Prisma for backends in an opinionated monorepo approach.
• Databases:Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3.
• Orchestration & CI/CD:We manage our container orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS), using Keda and Karpenter for dynamic autoscaling. Our CI/CD is powered by GitLab.
• Infrastructure as Code:Terraform for AWS provisioning.
• Serverless:Leveraging AWS Lambda and the Serverless framework for high-throughput endpoints.

Work Setup:

• Hours: 40 hours per week (based on trust).
• Home Office Policy:Enjoy a hybrid model with 3 days in the office / 2 days remote.
• Contract: A permanent contract for long-term stability.
