Lead Software Developer – What we’re looking for

Our cross‑discipline team builds and runs a leading‑edge platform for the international very sensitive emergency logistics sector. We need a Lead Software Developer with several years of experience as a Full Stack Developer working on Back‑end, Web and Mobile, who can delight users and solve problems. The role is based in Hamburg or part‑remotely and offers the chance to step into the role of CTO and receive company shares (VSOP).

Responsibilities

Build across the full stack, from back‑end APIs to mobile and web front‑end user interfaces, to deliver end‑to‑end solutions based on user requirements. You will work with our NestJS (Node) back‑end written in TypeScript in connection with React Native (Expo.io) front‑end apps.

• Plan, architect and implement new features in our back‑end.
• Drive decisions about the architecture and features of the apps.
• Manage the development roadmap with your colleagues and prioritize accordingly.
• Implement, iterate and release features in a cross‑functional team.
• Be self‑driven and generate new ideas to improve our product.
• Connect the dots independently and fill in gaps as necessary.
• Pay attention to detail and break complex tasks into smaller chunks without losing sight of the big picture.
• Seek balanced, high‑quality solutions that are usable, maintainable, extensible, accurate and reliable.
• Extend and maintain our GraphQL API.
• Integrate third‑party services and APIs into our system.
• Advocate design thinking and user empathy, working with product owners to bring UI and UX to life.
• Build reusable, scalable, and reliable software solutions.
• Create technical documentation and contribute to internal knowledge and codebases.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience as a Full‑Stack Software Engineer building scalable back‑ends (e.g. Python, NodeJS, Ruby, Go) and front‑end apps using React, ReactJS, React Native or similar frameworks.
• Experience in functional, object‑oriented and other programming paradigms, and appropriate use of software patterns.
• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Information Systems or a similar technical discipline.
• Additional experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Expo.io, mobile apps, CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, and functional approach in React using Hooks.
• Experience as a software architect (database, APIs, service architectures) with deep database knowledge (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL), Linux/Unix, cloud services (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), Git workflows, and DevOps.
• Knowledge of security best practices and common security vulnerabilities.
• Experience with Agile Software Development techniques and tools.
• Proficiency in debugging, testing and problem‑solving.
• Professional written and verbal fluency in English; German is a plus but not mandatory.
