Responsibilities
- Serves as Team Lead in the Security Services Division, DLA Installation Management Europe and Africa (SF-GS) and leads a group of subordinates at the GS-12 grade level.
- Provides expert technical oversight of physical security, anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP), and public safety programs supporting DLA operations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
- Leads a team of Physical Security Specialists and Security Assistants in inspections, assessments, training, and security program integration.
- Ensures compliance with U.S., NATO, and host-nation directives; develops countermeasures; and recommends policy and procedural improvements.
- Applies expert security knowledge in protecting personnel, facilities, and assets in complex multinational environments. Represents the team with senior DLA officials, U.S. military, NATO, and host-nation counterparts.
- Maintains direct liaison with U.S. European Command, U.S. Army Europe, U.S. Air Force Europe, U.S. Navy Europe, NATO, and host-nation security/police organizations.
- Conducts and leads vulnerability assessments, compliance inspections, and AT/FP surveys.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Lead Physical Security Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Performing a wide variety of security administration work involving Physical Security, Counterterrorism, and security incident investigations.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining procedural and technical methods to enhance physical protection.
- Providing leadership and guidance to team members on the interpretation and implementation of security standards.
Physical Demands
The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion, including walking, bending, reaching, crawling and related activities. On-site visits may involve examining activities and industrial areas in various settings. Lifting of moderately heavy objects is required. Some physical agility and dexterity may be needed for work in confined spaces.
