Hey there!
Do you want to apply AI where it truly matters, to build real-world solutions that drive climate impact?
At Enjins, we're looking for a Lead AI Engineer to help shape the future of our Berlin hub. In this role, you'll coach a talented team of AI engineers, lead complex ML and GenAI projects from design to deployment, and play a key (and growing) role in defining the growth of our Berlin hub.
Why?
Our mission is to become the leading AI engineering partner for tech scale-ups, trusted by top talent and forward-thinking clients alike. We focus on industries where AI can drive meaningful impact: ClimateTech, Mobility, and Marketplaces.
How?
Since 2018, we've been engineering AI systems with long-term value in mind. We don't chase hype, we help our clients navigate the evolving AI landscape with clarity and purpose. By applying a software engineering mindset to everything we do, we ensure our solutions are robust, scalable, and production-ready, whether built on ML, LLMs, or agentic architectures.
What? [You'll be doing]
As our Lead AI Engineer, you will be a key technical and strategic leader within Enjins, directly impacting our projects, internal capabilities, and the growth of our Berlin hub. Your responsibilities will include:
Technical Leadership & Hands-on Contribution:
- Serve as a technical authority, leading the design, development, and deployment of complex AI/ML/LLM solutions in climate tech, mobility, and marketplaces
- Maintain a hands-on approach, actively contributing to code, model development, and architecture design, setting high technical standards
- Develop and uphold quality standards across projects (e.g., peer reviews, coding conventions, ML, GenAI and LLMOps best practices)
- Oversee and guide our Machine Learning Engineer Acceleration Program (M-Leap) activities within the Berlin hub, ensuring talent development
Team Leadership & Growth:
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of talented AI engineers in the Berlin hub, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
- Work closely with the Berlin based CCO to build and grow the Berlin team, actively participating in recruitment and onboarding
- Inspire and develop our ML engineers, serving as the "go-to" leader for complex AI challenges and driving a robust technical training agenda
AI Strategy & Roadmap Development:
- Define and execute the technical AI vision for the Berlin hub, translating Enjins' overall mission into concrete technical strategies and roadmaps
- Identify high-value AI opportunities for client engagements, anticipating tech trends and developing strategies to keep Enjins ahead in the Berlin market
- Act as a trusted technical strategic advisor for key clients, contributing as a data/ML/LLM architect and technical challenger, focusing on engineering excellence
Hub Development & Ownership:
- Bring energy, enthusiasm, and drive to build the Enjins Berlin hub, fostering a strong value-driven culture and community
- Contribute to the strategic development of the Berlin office, ensuring its growth aligns with Enjins' overall mission
- Manage technical risks, including security, privacy, and compliance relevant to the Berlin hub's operations
- Work hand-in-hand with the CCO in pragmatically tackling overarching managerial tasks and activities
Leadership track
- From day one, you'll step into a strategic role that goes beyond engineering as described above. Alongside leading projects and coaching engineers, you'll contribute to key initiatives like hiring, shaping our technical vision, and refining how we execute impactful AI work
- Over the course of your first 6-12 months, we'll work closely together to prepare you to take full co-leadership of our Berlin hub. You'll build toward becoming end-responsible for the hub — with a focus on technical excellence, team growth, and project delivery, while our CCO drives marketing and sales
- You won't be alone in this journey — you'll be personally coached by our CEO and supported by the broader Enjins leadership team. Together, we'll shape a hub that's known for cutting-edge AI work and meaningful climate impact
