Join a dynamic and rapidly growing force in the European renewable energy sector! Our client, a leading developer, investor, and operator, is currently in a very active start-up phase. Since its establishment in 2020, this organization has built an impressive pipeline of over 16 GW of solar PV, onshore wind, offshore wind, and storage projects spanning 10 European markets.
They are actively seeking a Land Manager based in Düsseldorf (with hybrid remote flexibility and a requirement for regular travel throughout Germany). In this pivotal role, you will report to the Business Development Director Germany and be responsible for the crucial task of identifying and securing suitable sites for large-scale solar and battery storage projects across Germany, leveraging advanced GIS tools and market intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
Site Identification & Assessment: Conduct comprehensive preliminary site assessments, evaluating technical, environmental, and commercial viability. Collaborate closely with internal technical teams to analyse critical siting factors like grid proximity and access.
Landowner Engagement & Negotiation: Serve as the primary contact for discussions and negotiations with landowners for prospective large-scale solar and BESS sites, including associated cable routes.
Contract Management: Negotiate and finalize land use contracts, working in close coordination with the legal department.
Due Diligence & Permitting: Coordinate and oversee initial due diligence activities (e.g., title searches, environmental reviews, preliminary regulatory assessments) and secure site access through control agreements, while also managing early-stage project activities and planning/use permit approvals.
Stakeholder & Vendor Oversight: Monitor project stakeholders and ensure external service providers comply with all requirements.
Project Handoff: Collaborate effectively with the project development function to ensure seamless project transitions and optimal project development.
Network Building: Establish and manage a robust network of external agencies to support scouting and land acquisition efforts.
Required Skills & Experience
A Master’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in Agriculture, Real Estate, Geography, Spatial Planning, or a related field.
Professional experience in land acquisition and development specifically for energy projects in Germany (experience with renewable energy or BESS is highly advantageous).
Exceptional relational skills combined with meticulous attention to detail, particularly in contract review.
Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., QGIS) and CAD systems.
In-depth knowledge of, and commitment to staying updated on, German administrative legislation pertaining to renewable energy project development.
Native or fluent German speaker with excellent English proficiency.
Valid driver’s license and a strong willingness to travel extensively within Germany.
Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, effective communication, and networking.
A genuine passion for renewable energy and a strong drive to bring projects to fruition.
