The Biointerfaces Lab at a leading university offers opportunities for laboratory practicals and master theses focused on material science and neuromodulation. Ideal candidates will engage in cutting-edge research with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases. Positions are part-time with flexible hours, promoting gender equality and inclusivity in the application process.
Optimize surface functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles to enhance stability and functionality for biomedical applications. Work includes organic chemistry, bioconjugation, and characterization via standard analytical methods. Duration: 3-6 weeks. Attendance can be flexible to match lab requirements. Compatible with Bio-Organic and Bio-Inorganic Chemistry Lab (Modulnummer: 46514).
Focus on synthesizing anisotropic magnetic nanostructures, such as nanotubes and nanospindles, using hydrothermal reactions. The project involves material characterization, crystal phase identification, magnetization analysis, and TEM operation. Ideal candidates have a background in chemical synthesis or materials science and an interest in protocol development. The thesis is part of a project aimed at neurodegenerative disease treatment, funded by the EU Horizon-EIC program.
This project explores magnetoelectric nanoparticles in vitro, using fluorescence microscopy to track calcium flux during cellular stimulation. Candidates should have experience in cell culture and microscopy. The thesis is part of a multidisciplinary project on neurodegenerative disease treatment, funded by the EU Horizon-EIC program.
Note: The Friedrich-Alexander-University promotes gender equality. Women are encouraged to apply. Disabled persons with equal qualifications will be preferred. Applicants can request the inclusion of the gender equality officer in interviews. Positions are generally part-time unless specified otherwise.
