Overview
L1 Maintenance Engineer
We are looking for experienced L1 Maintenance Engineers to conduct daily maintenance tasks on the Galileo Ground Infrastructure in the Galileo Control Centre Oberpfaffenhofen, execute planned preventive maintenance tasks, support stakeholders in accessing the ground infrastructure and perform corrective maintenance tasks following incidents on the Galileo Ground Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Execution of L1 Maintenance related trainings to obtain the necessary qualification level for discrete provision of the L1 services in the GCCD. This includes the ramp-up for on-call services (i.e. outside nominal working hours) on GCS, GMS and NET infrastructure.
- Support of the existing Level-1 maintenance team to plan, execute and document maintenance activities on standard ITC infrastructure.
- Conduct selected Level-1 maintenance procedures related to preventive and corrective maintenance tasks including:
- Execution of Level-1 Hardware related procedures (e.g. monitoring status, HW exchange and supporting tasks based on relevant maintenance manuals etc.)
- Execution of Level-1 Software related procedures (e.g. monitoring status, (simple) software preventive procedures, preparatory software configuration tasks etc.)
- Monitoring of maintenance tickets, update of tickets/status and follow-up tasks in line with the individual evolution of the L1 maintenance intervention.
- Dealing with incidents, other emergencies and unplanned problems in line with the GSOp Service Management Processes based on related GCCD L1 maintenance tickets.
- Ensuring the correct execution, recording and triggering of follow-up tasks needed to resolve the underlying issues in line with the GSOp ILS Plan, incl. follow-up tasks with L2/L3 Maintenance team.
- Supporting the review/analysis/update of maintenance documentation and Level-1 maintenance procedures.
- Maintaining the accurate records in associated databases (e.g. SDT, CMAT, shared drives) and technical documentation related to L1 Maintenance tasks.
- Reviewing data packages from GSOp internal and GSOp external stakeholders, issuing of technical-managerial documentation on L1 maintenance perimeter.
- Acting as point of contact for the ILS Support Desk for the status monitoring of the local maintenance tasks (preventive, corrective, evolutive).
- Support the development/review of the annual preventive maintenance plan applicable for the GCCD assets.
- Support the processing/implementation of the changes/upgrades in the frame of L1 Request Tickets.
- Contribute to GSOp project deliverables and reporting.
- Periodic participation in the 24/7 on call maintenance service (week basis).
Skills Required
- Experience in troubleshooting and procedure-based maintenance on HW/SW systems.
- Experience working in complex, international environments.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and team spirit.
- Hands-on mentality, systematic and self-organized, with strong prioritization skills.
- Solid knowledge of various operating systems such as Linux and Windows (Server)
- Proficient use of the command line (Shell)
- Understanding of network protocols and database systems.
- Willingness to adhere to strict security policies and regulations.
- Team orientation and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Availability to support on-call service and occasional travel to other Galileo sites.
- Experience in system/network engineering and administration.
- Experience in server infrastructure maintenance (hardware, virtualization)
Key Qualifications (Education, Capabilities)
- Proven education/diploma as qualified IT specialist (e.g., computer scientist, IT engineer, IT specialist, business informatics specialist, IT systems electronics technician, electronics technician for information and system technology, computer science expert.)
- Technical background in IT standards and commercial off-the-shelf ITC infrastructure, including but not limited to:
- Servers/Workstations (mainly HP), Firewalls, Switches, Media Converter.
- UNIX and Windows-based operating systems, Linux command line, and Windows administration tasks.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and related software tools for ticketing and maintenance documentation.
- Excellent command of English (verbal and written); German language skills beneficial.
- EU nationality is necessary.
Work Location
This is a full-time position to be located at DLR’s premises in Oberpfaffenhofen, Munich area, Germany, with the planned start date ASAP.
