We are looking for a Technical Expert EU Hub & Gateway Controlling based in Bonn-Germany.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

The role purpose is to analyze, extract and process relevant information from large structured and unstructured datasets to help automate and optimize key processes, translating into reliable insights to support decision making for European Network Operations. The role requires a high level of data numeracy and the ability to generate useful and meaningful reports.

The Tasks

1. Provide key business inputs to understand and translate business needs into efficient technical language/model with focus on digitalization and automation of data flows and reporting.
2. Responsible for the design, development and optimization of Power BI reports to support the digitization of financial reporting within DHL Express.
3. Data maintenance – data extract/upload from various operational and financial systems ensuring the accuracy of EU HUBs reporting system both financial and non-financial, system reconciliation.
4. Preparation of financial reports/tools and presentations on a regular basis for EU HUBs as well as analyses for all controlling relevant areas (EBIT, cash flow, CAPEX).
5. Support of month-end closing processes according to month-end schedule.
6. Ensuring the quality of reporting.
7. Participate in the analysis and commentary of the monthly results.
8. Actively participate in infrastructure for annual budgets, mid-term plans and forecasts and prepare overview for senior management.
9. In collaboration with local country controlling, proactively seeking explanations for variances, in particular coordination and recording of forecasts, budgeting and efficiency improvements in the business units.
10. Ensure positive relationship with EU HUBs country teams and support local teams in their monthly reporting within EU H&G priorities.
11. Ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies and IFRS for the responsible areas.
12. Processing of ad-hoc inquiries and cooperation in projects.

Do you have what it takes?

Education and qualifications:

• University degree in Applied economics/Finance or Equivalent.
• Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in Finance in Express or Similar business. Some knowledge of accounting will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of the reporting systems of DPDHL (CREST; Express TM1; SAP; Cognos) will be considered, but it is not a mandatory requirement.

Skills needed:

• MUST HAVE PC-Skills: Power BI, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office; Advanced Expert in Microsoft Office Excel (incl. complex formulas, macros and Visual Basic) and PowerPoint.
• Proven capabilities to build, maintain and manipulate large and complex datasets.
• Ability to prepare analytical reports and interpret key business information with financial acumen.
• Ability to present convincingly and in a diplomatic way.
• Communicative and approachable to build up relationships and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Experience with IBM Planning Analytics for Excel (PAx), including data uploading and report generation integration with macros.
• Good social skills, work in an international environment.
• Positive “can do” mentality, always looking for improvements.
• Multicultural mind with excellent communication skills in a global environment.
• Preferable if experienced in the Europe Region with some International Experience preferred.
• Good communication skills in English (written, reading and speaking).
• Proficiency in another European language is advantageous.
