Knowledge Management Professional Aviation & Space

Be a central part in ensuring that knowledge, both strategic and operational, is effectively captured, transferred, shared, and retained across the European Space Agency, diverse programs and departments.

Responsibilities

1. Knowledge Governance Coordination: Develop and implement governance frameworks, standards, and policies for knowledge management across ESA's international teams.
2. Knowledge Transfer & Retention: Facilitate structured handovers, onboarding materials, and expert knowledge capture initiatives to mitigate knowledge loss. Plan and coordinate knowledge-sharing events, communities of practice, and internal conferences that foster collaboration and cross-functional learning.
3. Lessons Learned Integration: Support lessons learned processes to ensure insights from missions and projects are effectively captured, validated, and reused in future initiatives.
4. KM Tools & Records Management: Manage and evolve ESA's KM platforms and repositories; ensure effective usage of digital tools and systems for storing and sharing institutional knowledge.
5. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between departments to understand their knowledge needs and support tailored KM initiatives.

Your Experience & Talents

• Experience in a knowledge management, information governance, or organizational learning role in an international organization.
• Proven ability to lead cross-organizational knowledge initiatives and governance structures.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with knowledge systems, tools, and frameworks (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, KM methodologies).
• University degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Organizational Learning, Information and Documentation Management, Library and Information Sciences, or a related field.
• Familiarity with complex, international, and technical environments — ideally aerospace, engineering, research organizations, or multinational institutions.
• Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of German, French, Spanish, or Italian is an asset.
