This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with deep expertise in banking to be a member of our highly successful Global Transactions practice in Germany and our valued global Knowledge function. Global Transactions at Freshfields brings together lawyers specialising in corporate, finance, and real estate in a transactional practice group, working collaboratively to provide the best transactional advice to clients. Our finance lawyers in Germany focus on leveraged finance, corporate lending, acquisition financing, real estate finance, infrastructure and project finance, derivatives and structured finance, debt capital markets, asset finance, restructuring, and capital solutions.

Role summary/purpose of job

The Knowledge Lawyer’s primary focus will be on banking transactions, including leveraged finance, corporate and acquisition finance, infrastructure finance, and real estate finance. The role involves working closely with partners and lawyers, covering general finance topics relevant to the practice area, such as subordination, security, and guarantees.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in banking law and a willingness to develop further, with goals to:

• Enable market-leading client service: track and share updates, insights, and analysis on loan markets, and collaborate with lawyers and knowledge colleagues.
• Help grow the firm’s business: raise the profile of the practice, develop client content, and contribute to publications and client education.
• Develop legal skills of lawyers: through training and legal advice, upskilling lawyers in this area.

You will work alongside other Knowledge Lawyers in Germany and internationally, collaborating across practice areas and with Knowledge & Information specialists, fostering a supportive and innovative culture.

Experience and qualifications
