The Small Group Mentor will be responsible to ensure each assigned student has the opportunity to receive 1:1 instructional support in content specific areas that they have not previously shown mastery. The position requires live (web conference) instructional support to assigned students on a weekly basis, until the assigned student can demonstrate mastery of the content areas identified by their assigned Khan World School (KWS) Guide.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Post Bachelors in Education from an accredited college or university or meets Highly Qualified requirements per the Arizona Department of Education.
State Aligned Teaching Certificate (appropriate endorsements may be required depending on the area of instruction or have passed appropriate AEPA or NES proficiency exams), AZ State Teaching Cert, preferred.
Active Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing Khan World School (KWS) students with 1:1 or small group tutoring support specific to the content area assigned.
Work in tandem with assigned Khan World School Guide to provide academic support in a specific subject area.
Track and log attendance to live instructional sessions.
Plan creative lessons to engage and educate students.
Promote high standards for academic success and behavior and continually encourage students to meet them.
Facilitate weekly live lessons 1:1 or to small groups.
Report directly to the KWS Guide on the progress of student(s).
Must be available for at least 10 school day hours in Arizona time per week.
Facilitate and record weekly tutoring session in Zoom to specific students or small groups of students who have not yet demonstrated content mastery (As identified by the KWS Guide).
Complete data entry tasks using required database software.

Ability to articulate, represent professional demeanor and ability to take initiative.
Ability to teach students of all ages at varying levels of understanding and proficiency.
Command of theoretical knowledge of human behavior and learning including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with a wide-range of people including teachers, parents, and students.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and planning skills
Effective problem solver and self-motivated learner.
Ability to use instructional adaptive technology tools in online courses.
Proficiency with technology and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
