to be occupied at the earliest possible date.

The junior professorship is to be filled as temporary civil-servant position for an initial period of three years. If successful, the temporary civil-servant status shall be extended by three years. The permanent appointment as a university professor at the salary grade of W2 as a lifetime civil servant shall only be granted if the junior professor has proved her/his worth in accordance with the university's internal concept of quality assurance. The tenure-track professorship is funded by the Federal and State programme promoting young researchers (Tenure-Track Programme).

The professorship is affiliated with the department of Medical Systems Biology (https://www.med.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/systemimmunologie/research/quantitative-single-cell-biology-of-the-immune-system-gruen-lab/) under Prof. Dr. D. Grün and associated with the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDAS).

The applicant has to represent the subject single-cell systems biology in research and teaching. Successful applicants will have expertise in experimental and/or computational single-cell analysis. An independently developed, innovative research program particularly in the field of systems immunology applying novel high-resolution technologies, and/or computational analysis methods and artificial intelligence/machine learning is expected.

Teaching duties shall include course offers towards the modularized “Biomedicine” program of the University of Würzburg and the elite degree programme “Translational Medicine”. Experience in acquiring funding from third parties as well as in interdisciplinary research cooperations is expected.

Successful candidates require a completed university degree in a relevant subject/field, pedagogic aptitude, and a particular ability or talent for academic work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding qualificationof a doctorate in the field of life or natural sciences (cf. Art. 63 para. 1 sentence 1 BayHIG). Applicants for tenure-track positions should find themselves in an early phase of their journey towards professorship and having switched universities after completing their doctorate. If their doctorate was awarded by the Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg, they will have to have spent at least two years away from the Julius-Maximilians-University working in a scientific capacity.

No more than four years should have elapsed between the award of the doctorate and the end of the application period, or a maximum of seven years in the field of medicine or clinical psychology. The date of the doctoral certificate is decisive (cf. Art. 63 para. 1 sentences 5 to 7 BayHIG).
