Become a part of our mission and learnmore about our Product & Tech team!

Important: this is a fixed term contract for one year.

Your mission

As a Junior Data Engineer, you will join ourApp Team (Energy Data), helping to build and maintain the pipelines and systems that power the real-time features of our consumer app. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills across cloud infrastructure, data engineering, and cross-functional collaboration while contributing directly to meaningful energy data products.

You’ll be supported by experienced engineers while taking ownership of parts of our data systems, especially focused on energy telemetry and pricing logic.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the development and maintenance of SQLMesh pipelines for transforming telemetry and pricing data.
  • Assist in writing and troubleshooting Python-based data pipelines that ingest data from external APIs and data sources.
  • Help maintain and evolve our GCP infrastructure, including Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure reliable, high-quality data for app features.
  • Learn to own and improve logic for pricing, earnings, savings, and energy measurement calculations.
  • Contribute to the creation and improvement of Looker dashboards to support data visibility, monitoring, and decision-making.
  • Participate in maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines for data products using GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
  • Work on improving data quality monitoring, debugging issues, and proactively resolving errors.
  • Gain ownership over specific KPIs and support continuous improvement efforts.

Your profile

We are looking for someone early in their data engineering career, eager to learn, proactive, and excited about working at the intersection of climate tech and data.

You should have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • First hands-on experience in:
    • Writing Python scripts for data tasks or projects
    • Working with SQL for data manipulation and analysis
  • Familiarity or strong interest in tools like:
    • SQLMesh, DBT, or Airflow
    • Google Cloud Platform (especially BigQuery, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub)
    • Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Curiosity to understand and model real-world data like energy prices and device telemetry
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and care for data quality
  • Fluent English (German is a plus)
What You'll learn:
  • How to design and maintain production-grade data pipelines
  • Best practices for managing data quality and ensuring data reliability
  • How to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams
  • How energy pricing and telemetry work in the real world and impact consumers
  • How to work in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment that blends tech with climate action

Benefits
  • You are part of an international, dynamic, and highly motivated team of people who have proven to make things happen
  • With your work, you accelerate the "energy transition" and hence have a direct impact on our climate
  • Work with and learn from other super-smart colleagues
  • You will enjoy direct contact with core decision-makers
  • You will enjoy the best chances of entering full-time in one of Europe’s most thriving scaleups
  • You work remotely (Germany-wide), with offices in Hamburg, Berlin or Munich
  • Create a healthy balance alongside your work and enjoy all the benefits of the EGYM Wellpass
