Software Developer / Programmer (m / f / d)

The Center for Education and Opportunities (gGmbH) aims to promote educational opportunities for children and young people in the Gütersloh district, helping them become more independent of their background or social situation. Currently, we implement projects for elementary schools, and in the future, we plan to develop and test projects for daycare centers across three municipalities in the district.

We are seeking to fill the position as soon as possible, with a job share of 50-90%, and the responsibilities include:

  1. Designing and programming digital diagnostic tools for schools
  2. Updating and enhancing existing diagnostic software based on user feedback
  3. Conducting tests, fixing bugs, and ensuring quality assurance
  4. Documenting software and processes
  5. Creating user manuals
  6. Collaborating with internal teams on project implementation
  7. Training and supporting regional administrators (third level) in using diagnostic tools
  8. Advising the project manager on data portal setup for municipal management within the 'Alliance for Education and Opportunities'
  9. Working with external service providers and partners on software use
What you bring with you
  • Completed training or studies in computer science, software development, or a comparable qualification
  • Solid knowledge of HTML / CSS, ideally also jQuery and Ajax
  • Experience working with Linux servers (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu)
  • Confidence in handling databases and server structures
  • Basic understanding of IT security and data protection
  • Ideally, experience with tools like Git, Composer, SSH, Cron
  • Willingness to work closely with external scientific consultants
  • Initiative, analytical skills, and a structured working approach
  • Experience in (agile) project management (OKR, SCRUM, or similar)
  • Willingness to pursue continuous training
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-professional team (social scientists, lawyers, pedagogues, etc.)
