The Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law seeks a Jessup Moot Court Coach for the supervisory role of the Heidelberg team in the 2025/26 competition. The position involves organizing, coaching, and introducing team members to public international law, with a focus on unique legal challenges.
At the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, scholars pursue research relating to basic issues and current developments in the areas of public international law, European Union law, and the constitutional and administrative law of indi-vidual states, together with numerous visiting scholars from all over the world. In its fields, our library is the largest in Europe and one of the most comprehensive in the world.
We are looking for a
for the supervision of the Heidelberg Jessup Moot Court Team
(50%, fixed-term contract, place of work is the MPIL Heidelberg)
The position includes organizing and supervising the participation of the Heidelberg University’s Team in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in 2025/26. It will start in summer upon arrangement. The headcoach is supported by two student coaches. As a tradition the teams are hosted and coached at the MPIL Heidelberg.
The topics of the upcoming Jessup Competition will be: “Intervention in the ICJ, the rights of indigenous peoples regarding minerals found in their land, general principles of law, and state immunity in case of economic harm caused to citizens of another state”.
The contract is limited to the duration of the competition (until April 2026).
