The Chair of Production Technology as part of the Faculty of Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is an internationally renowned research institution with a focus on sheet metal and solid forming. Your tasks
- Maintenance and care of the IT systems in software and hardware (Linux & Windows: servers, NAS, workstations, PCs, clusters) at all locations of the chair including transport and commissioning of the systems
- Planning and implementation of infrastructure projects
- Creating and managing users (Linux and Windows systems) including implementing complex rights management
- User support for hardware and software issues on site at all department locations and via the network
- Procurement of hardware and software in accordance with FAU guidelines
- Installation and updating of complex software (CAD, FE, Office and others) and setting up license servers
Your profile
- Completed university degree (Bachelor/Diploma [FH]) in the field of computer science or comparable qualification
- Several years of professional experience in the IT sector
- Very good knowledge of the operating systems MS Windows and Ubuntu
- Very good knowledge of the administration of Windows Server 2019 and 2022 (Active Directory, DNS, Firewall, GroupPolicies)
- Good knowledge of common backup systems, as well as good knowledge of virtualization technologies, especially Hyper-V
- Ideally detailed hardware knowledge
- Very good knowledge of German (at least C1 level) and good knowledge of English (at least B2 level)
- Independent and reliable way of working
- High resilience and commitment
- Ability to learn in a constantly changing field of activity
- Ability to work in a team and strong communication skills
Job supplement
If suitable, there is a prospect of permanent employment.
After intensive training, the position is designed as a successor to the IT management function of the chair. This includes personnel and budget responsibility, as well as development opportunities up to pay grade 11 in a permanent employment relationship.
