IT Operations & Application Specialist (m/f/d)
Your Tasks
Are you a seasoned IT professional with a strong blend of system administration expertise and a passion for ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of critical engineering applications? We are seeking an IT Operations & Application Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the planning, operation, and continuous improvement of our complex application landscape, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You'll bridge the gap between infrastructure and software, contributing to both operational excellence and quality assurance.
- Application Ownership: Take ownership of the integrity and health of existing and new engineering applications and their associated databases. This includes maintaining versioning, managing codebases across different environments, and ensuring database consistency, systems security and compliance.
- Software Deployment & Release Management: Support the team by deploying software solutions from external developers to various environments (e.g., test, staging, production).
- Collaborate effectively in IT projects: work closely with internal and external teams to ensure quality, participating in verification as well as implementing new features.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: perform manual software testing to ensure the quality, functionality, and proper integration of new features and bug fixes. Focus on manual testing while identifying opportunities to automate repetitive testing, particularly using tools like Selenium.
- Code Review & Understanding: review source code (JavaScript, C#) to understand modifications, support troubleshooting, and test changes implemented by external development partners.
Your Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or relevant professional experience in IT operations and application support.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in Windows Server, Linux Server, and SQL Server administration.
- Experience with version control systems, e.g., GitLab.
- Experience building SQL-based reports (e.g., SSRS, Power BI).
- Scripting skills, especially PowerShell.
- Experience with Linux server environments is a plus.
- Experience with application troubleshooting, coding, and debugging (SQL, JavaScript, C#, JSON) is a plus.
- Familiarity with the .NET / C# technology stack is beneficial.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve complex issues.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles and practices, including automation.
- Experience with software deployment processes and managing code repositories (e.g., GitLab).
- Basic knowledge of ITIL frameworks; ITIL certification is a plus.
- Understanding of infrastructure concepts and system architectures is an asset.
- Good English skills are required; German language skills or willingness to learn are preferred.
