Rocket Factory Augsburg is seeking an Intern in Redundant Flight Software Development (f/m/d) to contribute to the design, build and test of prototype redundant flight computer architectures using COTS hardware. You will work with Python/C/C++, Git and Linux to support fault-tolerant software and embedded interfaces.
You will join an international, agile software team in a dynamic New Space startup, gaining hands-on experience in aerospace software and hardware integration while communicating in
At Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA), we have one clear goal: to create low-cost, flexible, and reliable access to space. We specialize in building small launch vehicles designed to deploy satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond. Together with you, we aim to revolutionize space services and help improve life on Earth. Sounds interesting? Then join our journey and become part of the team driving the New Space movement in Europe.
Our international and agile software team is searching for a motivated Intern in Redundant Flight Software Development. You enjoy working in a dedicated, dynamicand international environment that aims for high-performance engineering solutions in aerospace technology? Are you excited by the prospect of writing software and fault-tolerant architectures that directly safeguard mission success? Join us and help shape the next generation of resilient launch vehicle systems.
Support the design, build and test of prototype redundant flight computer architectures and network topologies utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware
Evaluate and modify COTS hardware configurations to expand operational envelopes in extreme flight environments
Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify failures, define fault-tolerance requirements and implement robust software countermeasures
Analyze the overall avionics architecture to identify opportunities for leveraging standard instrumentation sensors and processing units to improve system fault tolerance
Design and build Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test setups to validate enhanced fault-tolerance algorithms
Currently enrolled in Bachelor or Master studies in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Computer Science, or related discipline
Demonstrated experience in embedded software development, gained through academic projects, student competitions, or prior internships
Understanding of sensor and actuator interfacing, including hardware - software integration and communication between embedded systems and peripheral devices
Experience working with Python, C/C++, Git and Linux
Self-driven, hands-on mentality paired with a structured, methodical approach to problem-solving
Fluent oral and written English skills (all day-to-day activities are performed in English)
Showcase your team, technology, mission, culture, or workplace through a short video. Authentic content helps candidates understand the environment and can significantly increase engagement.
