Excelloit Consultancy Services is partnering with a high-tech defence and security company to recruit a hands-on Network & IT Administrator (m/f/d). You will own Linux systems, networks, IT security and infrastructure operations in a technically sophisticated environment.

The role requires native German and English at B2 or higher, and remote work is limited to on-site with occasional home office. Travel to customer sites is rare and security clearance may be required.

Qualifikationen

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in Linux system and network administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with Linux servers; Linux expertise is essential.
• Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls and network administration.
• Strong understanding of IT security, encryption and certificates.
• Experience with backup and patch management is advantageous.

• Manage and maintain Linux server environments, including users, permissions and security settings.

We are currently supporting a high-tech technology company operating in the defence and security sector and are looking for a hands-on Network & IT Administrator (m/f/d) to join their growing internal IT & Infrastructure team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional who enjoys taking ownership of Linux systems, networks, IT security and infrastructure operations in a technically sophisticated environment.

• Ensure the reliable operation, monitoring and continuous development of the company's IT infrastructure
• Administer and secure LAN/WAN networks, VPN interfaces and firewalls
• Manage and maintain Linux server environments, including users, permissions and security settings
• Plan and execute system installations, updates, rollouts and backups
• Troubleshoot technical incidents and provide structured support to internal users
• Maintain documentation, system configurations and operational procedures
• Support infrastructure scaling as the company continues to grow
• Prepare hardware/software for new employees
• Support occasional customer-site installations and maintenance activities

What We're Looking For

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in Linux system and network administration
• Strong hands‑on experience with Linux servers – Linux expertise is essential
• Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls and network administration
• Strong understanding of IT security, encryption and certificates
• Experience with backup and patch management is advantageous
• Structured and analytical approach to troubleshooting
• Good scripting/automation skills with Shell, Python or similar are a plus
• Native-level German and English at B2 level or higher
• Willingness to work predominantly on-site in Salem or relocate/commute to the area
• Ability to obtain the required security clearance for the position
• Completed IT apprenticeship, degree in IT/computer science, or equivalent professional experience.
