Industrial Designer (m/f/d)

We are looking for an experienced and talented Industrial Designer to join our team. This individual will work with the global in-house User Experience & Design team. We are a global multidisciplinary team, distributed across various locations, responsible for all Dentsply Sirona product solutions. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the design of our cutting-edge dental products, empowering dental practitioners and revolutionizing the way dental care is delivered. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product/solution managers, designers, developers, and clinicians, to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of usability, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Your responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other design team members and stakeholders to scope design requirements.
• Plan, execute, and facilitate multidisciplinary design thinking and ideation workshops.
• Act as a design advisor on behalf of users and customers.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, design team members, software developers, and clinical experts to ensure seamless integration of design solutions into the product development process.
• Plan, execute, and facilitate user feedback sessions constantly testing and validating design concepts.
• Communicate design ideas with conceptual sketches, compelling CGI visualizations, and physical prototypes.

Leadership & Growth:

• Provide design mentorship across multifunctional teams and mentor junior designers.
• Guarantee and maintain industrial design excellence across teams.
• Connect industrial design requirements to business needs.
• Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in tech and dental care to continuously enhance product design and push the boundaries of innovation.
• Keep abreast of design methodology and development trends to help foster the design process.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Your Profile:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial design, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 – 8+ years of experience as an Industrial Designer.
• Experience leading the design transfer from design studies to manufacturing ready design concepts.
• Experience working with hardware engineers and parts suppliers.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and design implementation with a focus on:

1. Metal Forming
2. Plastic Injection Moulding

Experience with additive manufacturing processes is a plus.

Experience working with a global multi-disciplinary team of designers, product/solution managers, and architects/technical leads throughout the design process.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities:

• Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and advocate for design best practices.
• Mentorship and guidance on design thinking and ideation methodologies across multidisciplinary teams.
• Advanced surface modelling skills.
• Business English Fluency is a must. Mastery of German or any other languages is a plus.
• Preferred: Experience in CAD surface modeling and CGI visualization.
• 10 % of travel is expected in this role.
