Jobbeschreibung

Your Growth

You will join our growing and entrepreneurial McKinsey Hydrogen Insights team focused on developing distinctive insights and intelligence tools.
We are our firm’s think tank counseling clients on topics across the entire hydrogen and clean fuels value chain. You will be based in our Munich office in Germany as part of the international McKinsey Hydrogen Insights Solution team (main hubs are Munich and Boston, with colleagues globally).
You’ll work with hydrogen and clean fuels enthusiasts and experts from our broader hydrogen service line and other solution teams in the sustainability space to solve our clients’ most challenging questions on decarbonization.
You will directly engage and advise McKinsey’s hydrogen and sustainability clients on their path toward a successful and sustainable future (e.g., integrated energy players, technology OEMs, developers, investors).

Your Impact

As a Hydrogen Analyst within the McKinsey Hydrogen Insights Solution Team, you will be at the forefront of our work in hydrogen and clean fuels, making a tangible impact by supporting large-scale decarbonization across sectors.
You will play a key role in developing and delivering our proprietary market intelligence assets, covering the entire hydrogen value chain. Your responsibilities include maintaining existing tools, supporting new product development, and contributing to asset innovation in areas like commercial strategy, offtake, capex acceleration, investing, financing, and trading.
You will conduct in-depth analysis of key players and the current hydrogen project landscape, analyze regulatory frameworks, forecast hydrogen and derivative costs, prices, supply, and demand dynamics. You will identify strategic opportunities and enable data-driven recommendations for portfolio and investment decisions in the hydrogen and clean fuels ecosystem.
As part of our Hydrogen Insights Solution team, you will collaborate primarily with our core solution team, leadership, McKinsey experts, and client service teams. Over time, you will support clients directly by delivering proprietary assets, developing and customizing business insights, and establishing yourself as a hydrogen and clean fuels expert.
This role offers significant entrepreneurial space for initiative and personal growth. You will gain new skills, build on your existing strengths, and receive exceptional training, coaching, and mentoring from colleagues across the firm.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Master’s degree in business, business informatics, economics, or STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)
  • Up to 2 years of professional experience and/or relevant academic background
  • Fluency in both German and English, verbal and written
  • Background or strong interest in new climate technologies and decarbonization, with a willingness to specialize and bring expertise to McKinsey teams and clients
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and basic Python coding; data visualization skills (e.g., Tableau) are a plus
  • Adept at managing key stakeholders (internal & external), with confidence and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment with senior stakeholders
