We are looking for a HR Specialist (m/f/d) - U.S. Benefits located in Germany or Portugal or Hungry who brings deep knowledge of U.S. employee benefits and labor regulations. This role serves as the subject matter expert for U.S. benefits, supporting the administration of our benefits plans and programs across North America and all Business Areas, while being based in Germany. The role requires an understanding of U.S. labor law, benefits compliance, and HR best practices, including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). You will work closely with employees, managers, and stakeholders across the U.S., delivering expert guidance, timely administration, and customer-focused service.

Your Role in our Team
  • Administer U.S. benefit programs including health insurance, 401(k), short- and long-term disability, life insurance, dental, vision, and related plans.
  • Act as a first and second-level contact for HR-related benefit inquiries from U.S.-based employees and managers.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for U.S. benefits, including eligibility rules, compliance, open enrollment, and audit requirements.
  • Ensure all benefits administration complies with U.S. federal and state laws, including PPACA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
  • Maintain process documentation and update internal knowledge bases.
  • Ensure operational excellence and data integrity in HR systems.
  • Support the full employee lifecycle: job offers, onboarding, benefit enrollments and changes, terminations, and post-employment benefit transitions.
  • Deliver prompt, professional customer service with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional HR teams across time zones to resolve employee requests.
  • Manage document handling, archiving, and contract support for U.S.-based personnel.
  • Support HR knowledge base and internal communication related to U.S. benefits.
  • Participate in or lead HR Shared Services projects with a focus on continuous improvement.
Your Profile
  • Experience in U.S. employee benefits and leave of absence administration.
  • Deep Understanding of U.S. benefits regulations and practices (e.g., PPACA, FMLA, COBRA).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work independently across time zones.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel proficiency required (advanced formulas not needed).
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, or similar HRIS systems preferred.
  • Fluency in English required; German is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Customer service orientation and responsiveness.
  • Experience with U.S. benefit open enrollment processes and vendor coordination.
