Location: Near Lübeck, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany

Salary circa: €70,000

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to join our distribution client in Germany to lead and support the human resources function primarily across Germany, but support as needed with France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

This pivotal role is based near Lübeck, with regular travel across the region, and reports directly to the HR Director for EMEA and APAC.

This is a key opportunity for a senior HR professional with a deep understanding of German labour law and HR best practices, and an appetite for working across multiple European jurisdictions.

HR Manager – About the role Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR contact for all employees across Germany but also as needed support Belgium, Netherlands, and France
• Ensure full compliance with local employment laws, with a strong emphasis on German HR regulations (Arbeitsrecht, Tarifverträge, Mitbestimmung)
• Oversee operational HR processes including employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and succession planning
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership, supporting organisational development and workforce planning
• Champion a culture of collaboration, employee engagement, and continuous improvement
• Lead local implementation of global DE&I initiatives and corporate values
• Develop and deliver training, coaching, and leadership development programmes
• Represent the region at global and EMEA HR forums and initiatives

HR Manager – About you

• Degree-qualified in Human Resources, Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Personalmanagement, or equivalent
• HR certification/accreditation (e.g. PHR, CIPD, Personalfachkaufmann/-frau) is desirable
• Significant HR leadership experience in Germany is essential, with demonstrable knowledge of German employment law and employee relations
• Exposure to HR legislation and practices in Belgium, the Netherlands, and ideally France
• Proven experience handling complex, cross-border HR issues
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Fluent in German and English (both spoken and written); German is the primary working language in Lübeck, while English is used globally
• Experience in the distribution sector is an advantage, but not essential
• A collaborative, empathetic, and proactive leadership style
