Jobbeschreibung

Operates, repairs, and maintains heavy power construction equipment such as compressors, pumps, hoists, shovels, trucks, tractors, graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, scrapers, motor graders, skid steers and associated equipment, and fire trucks.

· Perform heavy equipment maintenance activities including installation, repair, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance.

· Responsible for operating equipment to maintain roadways and firebreaks by excavating, moving, and grading earth.

· Disassemble and reassemble engines and mechanical units to inspect and diagnose parts using computerized test equipment, calibration devices, gauges, etc.

· Repair and overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

· Repair air conditioning systems.

· Calibrate load monitoring indicators to ensure safe and reliable lifts.

· Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drive units, suspensions, springs, bushings, and kingpins.

· Replace seals and bearings, axel brakes, and crane rigging.

· Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, valves, planetary drive units, suspensions, springs, bushings, and kingpins.

· Performs loading, unloading, and lifting operations using heavy equipment.

· Act as point-of-contact for maintenance issues in absence of Maintenance Supervisor or Foreman.

· Perform as the Vehicle Safety Advocate by providing interface between employees and senior leadership to enhance identification of and ensure timely corrective action of safety issues and concerns.

· Attend monthly Site Safety Committee meeting.

· Assist with developing, maintaining, and/or analyzing achievable metrics, as necessary.

· Review safety plans, policies, and program to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

· Participate in safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

· Assist in employee safety training and education.

· Perform Quality inspection spot checks as directed by Vehicle Supervisor

· Assist with process improvements, as needed.

· Perform vehicle maintenance training as directed.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in operating and maintaining heavy equipment.

· Licensed or trained to operate applicable items of heavy equipment.

· Must be experienced in the repair of major systems.

· Prefer motor vehicle air conditioning certification and experience.

· Specialized knowledge and skills in diesel and heavy automotive repair and maintenance.

· Skilled in replacing major components and parts on engineering and construction equipment.

· Practical understanding of theory of hydraulics (Pascal Theory), pulley, and gear ratio.

· Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.

· Knowledge of diagnostics and ability to conduct technical research on the computer.

· Prefer knowledge of US military heavy vehicles and equipment, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), OSHA, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), military regulations standards, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements

· Prefer motor vehicle air conditioning certification and experience.

· Must be able to speak, read and write English.

· Must have authorization to work in host country.

Contract Requirements in accordance with Appendix J, applicable if/when completing maintenance on Special Purpose Vehicles.

· Completed training in Vehicle Maintenance or related field from military technical school or an accredited technical school/college/university.

· Two (2) years’ experience maintaining special purpose-type vehicles.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Physical requirements include prolonged standing, moderate walking, repeated bending, and climbing, overhead work, working in cramped positions, lifting, pulling and pushing weights up to 100 pounds. Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) and good hearing (with or without a hearing aid) required. Will work inside and outside in various weather conditions, subject to rapid changes in temperature due to nature of work. Hazards include danger from gas fumes, falls, electric shock and burns, cuts and bruises. Must have normal color vision. When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must cease work and notify lead, supervisor, or manager of all unsafe conditions.
