Job description

Our client, a well-established industrial group with a strong position in its markets, is moving from a largely German footprint to a truly international structure. That growth is changing what the business needs from its tax function, and they are now looking for a Head of Tax to lead that change.

This is a role for someone who wants more than compliance. You will get close to the commercial side of the business, be involved in key decisions early, and turn tax into a forward-looking partner to the leadership team and wider organisation.

The role:

• Own tax across the group, from day-to-day compliance at home and abroad to long-range planning tied to where the business is heading.
• Work alongside the leadership team as a trusted adviser, shaping growth plans, structural changes and investment decisions before they are finalised.
• Lead on the tax side of deals and international set-ups, including acquisitions, reorganisations and cross-border flows.
• Keep the overall tax burden efficient without losing sight of commercial reality or regulatory boundaries.
• Build the controls and working processes that make the function robust and able to scale.
• Run a compact specialist team, supported by a network of outside advisers, auditors and authorities.

What you'll need:

• A qualified Steuerberater with a degree in business, economics or law, or an equivalent background.
• A solid grounding in German and international tax, developed in senior roles in industry or at a top-tier advisory or audit firm.
• Hands-on exposure to multinational group structures and cross-border transactions.
• Business fluency in both German and English.
• A pragmatic approach: you dig into detail, pick up complexity fast and are comfortable owning outcomes in a changing environment.
• The presence to influence senior colleagues and outside parties, plus a real appetite for working closely with management and operational teams.
