About The Role
Are you an experienced sales leader with proven experience of driving profitable and sustainable growth? Are you able to lead and motivate high-performing sales teams, with the ability to create a winning strategy to identify and execute new/ cross-sell growth opportunities?
As part of the growth strategy for Arco Professional Safety Services, we are looking for an experienced Head of Sales with proven success in leading and being accountable for services sales to enable high levels of growth. Through strong leadership, commercial acumen, and a customer-focused approach, the Head of Sales will be a high-energy, results driven sales leader, playing a pivotal part in accelerating business performance and strengthening our position as a trusted safety partner to major customers and the broader market.
The Head of Sales will have two critical focus areas. Firstly, to lead, motivate, and drive a high-performing technical sales team to consistently exceed targets and deliver sustained, profitable growth across the safety services portfolio. Secondly, to own and lead new business development by identifying and executing cross-sell opportunities within the company’s largest national customers — working closely with the strategic salesforce to expand the adoption of the company’s full suite of services.
The Head of Sales can be based anywhere in the UK, with travel expected to customer and Arco sites.
Key responsibilities include:
- Being accountable for delivering the sales growth plan for Safety Services, driving expansion and delivering profitable growth
- Leading and inspiring the Sales team ensuring that all direct reports are effectively performance managed and have clear direction and motivation
- Creating an annual sales plan to deliver the Safety Services sales budget in line with business strategy and objectives
- Creating and implementing sales initiatives, tactics and campaigns to support the delivery of company growth objectives, working cross functionally with a wide range of stakeholders
- Owning and leading the ‘Cross-Sell’ Initiative into Arco’s strategic and national customers, ensuring strong matrix management with key internal stakeholders to drive growth and an effortless customer experience across all channels
- Managing the sales pipeline of Safety Services, ensuring enquiries are managed, accurate and closed out effectively
- Supporting the completion of pre-qualification documents and responses to tenders by working closely with the Bid team and internal subject experts
- Working with the Contract teams to ensure any customer contracts are reviewed, ensuring the best commercial terms and any binding T&C’s do not present a business risk which may not be mitigated
- The provision of timely, accurate reports providing clarity and management insight on performance, including trends on active customers, pipeline, conversions and territory performance
- Defining and communicating KPI’s for the Sales team and review their performance on a monthly and ongoing basis

The ideal Head of Sales will be/have:
- A proven track record of delivering growth and exceeding sales targets in a commensurate services business – services sales is essential
- A sharp intellect, very driven and results focused, numerate and able to ‘put a compelling proposition’ together and sell it
- Resilient and adaptable with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and results focused business
- An excellent understanding of market dynamics, competition, customers and regulatory requirements in the safety services sector
- Excellent negotiation, communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
- Leadership experience with the ability to develop and motivate a high performing team
- Experience of identifying, growing and managing excellent customer relationships with very high levels of customer focus and commitment to customer service excellence
- Experience of developing and executing a new business acquisition sales strategy
