Job summary

Quantum Systems seeks a Head of Risk Governance to lead Group-wide risk management across the organization. You will shape the risk framework, enable implementation, and provide management with a consolidated risk view necessary for decisions.

You’ll define scalable methodologies, embed an Internal Control System, and collaborate with GRC, Finance, and Assurance to challenge management while driving risk-aware decision-making. English fluency is essential; German is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Internal Controls (IC) frameworks.
• Proven ability to design and implement ERM/IC into planning, performance management and GRC processes.
• Hands-on mindset to translate risk principles into lean processes and tangible results.
• Strong ability to translate complex risk information into clear management insights and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Initial leadership experience and ability to lead a small team while staying involved in day-to-day work.

Responsibilities

Job description

At Quantum Systems, we develop advanced autonomous systems for defense and security across multiple domains, combining unmanned platforms with integrated software and AI. As Head of Risk Governance, you will join the GRC leadership team and shape Quantum Systems’ Group-wide approach to risk management and internal controls. You will build a pragmatic, scalable framework that meets applicable German corporate law requirements and provides management with a consolidated, decision-relevant view of risk.

Within our integrated GRC model, Risk Governance sets the common framework, enables implementation, provides constructive challenge and consolidates the Group risk view. Business Owners remain accountable for identifying, assessing, mitigating and monitoring risks within their areas.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• Build and implement a Group-wide Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework that supports early risk identification, clear escalation and decision-relevant management reporting.
• Define a simple, scalable risk methodology, taxonomy and governance cycle that Business Owners adapt and apply to manage material risks within their areas.
• Build and continuously enhance a pragmatic, risk-based Internal Control System (ICS) focused on entity-level controls and selected key controls over mission-critical processes. Set common standards, coordinate and challenge management assessments and track remediation, while Control Owners remain accountable for operating controls and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop a consolidated, forward-looking view of the Group’s risk exposure using meaningful indicators, scenarios and quantified impacts where appropriate, and embed these insights into strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting and key business decisions.
• Maintain clear responsibilities across the integrated GRC model: Risk Governance owns the common risk and control methodology and consolidated management view; specialist GRC functions own their subject-matter frameworks and risk responses; Group Assurance independently evaluates effectiveness.

What you bring to the team:

• Several years of relevant experience in Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Controls or Risk Governance, ideally in an international, fast-growing organisation.
• A strong track record of designing and implementing ERM and/or IC frameworks and integrating them into planning, performance management and related GRC processes.
• A pragmatic, hands-on mindset with the ability to turn sound risk principles into lean, workable processes and tangible results.
• The ability to use technology and AI pragmatically to simplify GRC processes and improve insights, reporting and decision-making.
• The ability to translate complex risk information into clear management insights and constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
• Initial leadership experience and the ability to lead a small team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day work.
• A collaborative approach and the credibility to work effectively across GRC, Finance, Group Assurance and operational functions.
• Excellent communication skills in English. German is a strong plus, along with high integrity, sound judgement and a genuine drive to strengthen risk-aware decision-making.
