Knauf Deutschland is seeking a senior technical leader for underground mining operations and related development across EMEA. You will ensure safety, reliability, and cost optimization while guiding local management and technical teams.

What you'll do

• Provide technical leadership and operational oversight for underground mining operations and related development projects across EMEA, with a strong focus on occupational safety, operational reliability, productivity and cost optimization

• Support local management teams in delivering safe and efficient underground mining activities, while acting as a senior technical authority and trusted advisor on mining operations, infrastructure and development matters

• Monitor operational and financial performance, analyze key KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen technical standards, equipment utilization, process efficiency and overall mine performance

• Contribute to the planning and execution of short-, medium- and long-term mine development, new underground projects and approved CAPEX investments, ensuring technical rigor, operational continuity and timely delivery

• Lead, coach and develop technical teams and local organizations, while promoting a strong safety culture, regulatory compliance, knowledge sharing and alignment with global mining standards and long-term raw material strategy

Who you are

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Underground Mining, Tunnelling or a comparable technical discipline, ideally complemented by additional qualifications in areas such as rock mechanics, ventilation, geotechnics, explosives, project management or mine safety

• Extensive years of relevant experience in underground mining operations, including a proven track record in senior technical or operational leadership roles, ideally within an international mining or industrial environment

• Strong technical and practical expertise in underground extraction, mine development, drivage, ground support, ventilation, mine safety systems and, where applicable, drilling and blasting

• Solid understanding of operational and commercial aspects, including mine development planning, cost control, budgeting, KPI management, regulatory compliance, underground safety standards and the implementation of mine development or new mine projects

• Credible, hands‑on and safety‑focused leader with strong communication skills, fluent in German and English and willing to travel up to 50% across EMEA
