Build the Finance Function of a High-Growth Platform from Day One

We are supporting a private-equity-backed buy-and-build platform seeking an entrepreneurial M&A professional to lead acquisition activity across a highly fragmented market.

The platform is being established through the combination of several businesses and has ambitious expansion plans. With hundreds of potential acquisition targets across Germany, M&A will be a central driver of value creation.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a rapidly scaling platform, combining deal origination, transaction execution, and integration planning in a hands-on environment.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the platform team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the acquisition strategy. You will build relationships directly with founder-led businesses, identify attractive acquisition opportunities, and work closely with management, investors, and external advisers throughout the transaction process.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the full deal lifecycle rather than focusing solely on execution.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Origination

• Identify and map acquisition opportunities across Germany
• Build relationships directly with business owners and industry leaders
• Develop proactive sourcing strategies alongside intermediary-led opportunities
• Create and maintain a robust acquisition pipeline
• Assess targets based on strategic fit, geography, capabilities, and financial attractiveness
• Prioritize opportunities and manage deal flow effectively
• Present investment opportunities to senior stakeholders
• Maintain accurate reporting on pipeline activity and acquisition progress

Owner and Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a trusted advisor to founders and entrepreneurs
• Communicate the platform's growth and partnership proposition credibly
• Manage relationships throughout often sensitive succession and ownership discussions
• Build long-term industry relationships that generate proprietary opportunities
• Support valuation analysis and investment cases
• Coordinate due diligence processes with internal and external stakeholders
• Lead negotiations alongside senior management and investors
• Manage transactions from first contact through to completion

Integration Planning

• Work closely with finance and operational teams ahead of completion
• Support integration planning and execution
• Ensure clarity of ownership and accountability post-acquisition
• Contribute to the development of repeatable integration processes

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a commercially minded M&A professional who combines transaction expertise with strong relationship-building skills.

Ideal Background

• M&A Manager, Corporate Development Manager, Investment Professional, Transaction Services Manager, or M&A Director
• Experience within industrial services, specialist contracting, building products, construction-related sectors, business services, or other operationally intensive industries
• Proven track record of buy-side transactions and acquisition execution
• Experience originating proprietary opportunities and building target pipelines
• Strong financial analysis and valuation skills
• Exposure to private-equity-backed environments is highly desirable
