Finatal is seeking an Interim Head of M&A in Germany to lead multiple bolt-on acquisitions from origination through closing, while developing the target pipeline and coordinating cross-functional due diligence and negotiations. You will work closely with owners, management and intermediaries.

The role requires strong financial modelling, valuations and investment-case development, with experience in German Mittelstand and technology-enabled services. Fluent German and English are essential.

We are currently supporting a private equity-backed German managed IT services platform in the execution of an ambitious buy-and-build strategy.

The business is looking to appoint an experienced Interim Head of M&A who can take responsibility for multiple transactions across the full deal cycle, from target identification and valuation through due diligence, negotiation, closing and integration planning.

The role requires a highly operational M&A professional who is comfortable working directly on financial models, valuations and investment cases. Experience with smaller, founder-led businesses and technology-enabled service models would be particularly relevant.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multiple bolt-on acquisitions from origination through to closing
• Prioritise and further develop the existing target pipeline
• Approach business owners, management teams and relevant intermediaries
• Prepare financial models, company valuations and investment cases
• Coordinate commercial, financial, legal and tax due diligence
• Structure transactions and support negotiations around valuation, deal terms and SPAs
• Prepare decision-making materials for the CEO, Board and investor
• Establish clear M&A governance, reporting and pipeline management
• Develop integration concepts and detailed 100-day plans

Profile

• Strong track record within private equity-backed buy-and-build environments
• Hands-on financial modelling and valuation capabilities
• Experience managing several bolt-on transactions simultaneously
• Strong understanding of due diligence, deal structuring and SPA negotiations
• Experience with smaller, founder-led businesses and the German Mittelstand
• Post-merger integration and 100-day planning experience
• Ideally, experience within IT services, managed services, software or technology-enabled services
• Able to combine strategic oversight with hands-on execution
• Fluent German and English
