Job description

Job description

mobile.de is Germany’s largest vehicle marketplace, with more than 1.6 million listed cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and e-bikes (annual average 2025). Both private customers and registered vehicle dealers use the platform and benefit from more than 140 million visits per month*. As a “one‑stop shop,” mobile.de’s offering includes not only buying and selling, but also financing and leasing solutions. Founded in 1996, the company is a subsidiary of Adevinta, a global leader in online classified portals. Based in Berlin‑Charlottenburg, we offer a dynamic environment where growth, learning, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. If you are driven by an eagerness to disrupt, have a passion for collaboration, and are excited about shaping the future of mobility, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As Head of Legal – Regulatory & Transactions (d/f/m), you are responsible for all regulatory questions across the mobile.de group and for M&A transactions and post‑merger integration. You will work with a high degree of autonomy in a fast‑paced environment. You will help the organisation move quickly without sacrificing legal rigour, translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance. As part of a diverse and dynamic legal team you will report directly to the General Counsel. You'll work closely with management, product, marketing and finance, and turn complex legal requirements into clear, actionable guidance. The position is based in Berlin or Munich, offering flexibility to work both in‑office and from home. The role includes regular travel within Germany, approx. 20–30% of your working time. It is a fixed‑term position with an initial term of 18 months, giving you the chance to take on real responsibility and make an impact from day one.

Job requirements
  • You are a fully qualified German lawyer with two above‑average German state examinations.
  • You have substantial post‑qualification experience at a leading law firm and/or in‑house, ideally in a digital, platform or tech‑driven business.
  • You have strong experience in at least one of the following: digital business models, platform regulation, M&A or post‑merger integration.
  • You explain complex legal topics clearly and pragmatically, to non‑lawyers and senior management alike.
  • You exercise business‑oriented, risk‑aware judgement. You look for solutions, not just problems.
  • You genuinely enjoy understanding how digital products and platforms work, not just their legal side.
  • You have leadership experience or experience leading cross‑functional projects.
  • You have excellent German and English skills, written and spoken.
Nice‑to‑haves
  • Experience as legal lead for a company or business unit
  • Experience in antitrust and competition law
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment for financing, leasing or insurance intermediation in the context of car purchases
  • An LL.M. or other postgraduate qualification
What sets you apart
  • You think in products and customer journeys.
  • You thrive in a fast‑paced, agile environment.
  • You build trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • You are comfortable working with AI‑assisted legal tools, including legal prompting with large language models.
Job responsibilities
Regulation & Product Compliance
  • Advise on the regulatory framework for digital platforms and consumer‑facing products, including the Digital Services Act, the P2B Regulation, unfair competition and consumer protection law, and the EU AI Act.
  • Monitor German and EU regulatory developments, assess their impact on the business, and drive implementation with the teams involved.
  • Review products from first concept to launch, together with Product and Tech, with clear risk assessments and practical solutions.
M&A & Integration
  • Support M&A transactions, investments and corporate projects, including due diligence, transaction documentation and coordination of external counsel.
  • Lead the legal side of post‑merger integrations, aligning contracts, policies, governance and compliance structures.
  • Handle corporate housekeeping and governance matters for companies within the mobile.de group.
