Head of Investments, PE-backed Engineering Company, Munich/Berlin, Germany

An expanding services company in the engineering sector, backed by high-calibre investors with a strong growth trajectory, is currently looking for a Head of Investments to lead the origination and execution of M&A deals, as well as defining or proposing strategic company projects.

They are looking to acquire several companies per year to achieve their inorganic growth goals. We are looking for someone with experience working with German founders and entrepreneurs and extensive deal experience in a private equity fund or the M&A team of a PE-backed portfolio company. A natural networker, who can source deals bilaterally and build a network in the industry, based on trust.

This position will report directly to the CEO, has significant board & investor exposure, and will be essential for driving growth and value creation across the business.

What the job involves

• Building and developing a strong pipeline for further acquisitions
• Managing M&A transactions from start to finish with a small team
• Working with founders, guiding them through the process and building a strong network in the industry
• Ownership of investment process with a very hands-on approach
• Driving the growth and professionalization of the business
• Building and managing the broader M&A team

Who we are looking for

• Several years of professional experience in sourcing and executing deals in Germany in lower mid-market environments, either in a private equity fund or a PE-backed portfolio company
• Strong track record of building a pipeline and executing on M&A transactions
• Hands-on approach, with high interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, self-starting mentality, and drive to take ownership
• Outgoing natural networker with a results-driven and goal-oriented personality, backed by analytical thinking and a data-driven approach
• Outstanding strategic and commercial skillset with great communication and presentation skills
• Fluency in German and English is essential
