About the Role
IIX is seeking a bold, strategic, and entrepreneurial leader to establish and head its ESG & Impact Advisory business unit focused on Corporates. This leadership role will build and lead IIX’s corporate-facing advisory practice across South and Southeast Asia, engaging with major corporates, regional conglomerates, and financial institutions to embed ESG strategies, impact measurement, and sustainability-linked finance solutions—including Orange Bonds—into their core operations. The role will work closely with IIX’s Research, Government Advisory, and Innovative Finance teams to help corporates develop Orange Bond issuance strategies, while ensuring ESG readiness, robust impact frameworks, and reporting using IIX’s proprietary platforms—IIX Values (impact verification) and IIX Intelligence (data analytics). This is a client-facing, business-building leadership position requiring an established network, deep expertise in ESG and sustainable finance, and strong capabilities in building new revenue streams from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development & Market Leadership
- Lead the strategy and execution roadmap for IIX’s ESG & Impact Advisory business for Corporates.
- Drive business development and revenue growth across key markets: Indonesia, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
- Leverage personal networks to initiate and secure corporate partnerships and long-term sustainability mandates.
- Develop advisory solutions integrating Orange Bond readiness, impact measurement, and ESG strategy.
Corporate SDG Strategy & Sustainable Finance- Translate corporate ESG and sustainability commitments into measurable SDG-aligned actions.
- Design innovative financing mechanisms such as sustainability-linked loans, supplier financing programs, and outcome-based grants.
- Prepare clients for emerging ESG and climate and sustainability reporting standards.
Supply Chain ESG & Orange Seal Program- Conduct deep-dive supply chain diagnostics (Tier 1–3) to assess gender parity, GHG emissions intensity, and climate resilience.
- Develop supplier improvement roadmaps and expedite the qualification of suppliers through the Orange Seal certification process.
- Align supply chain action plans with national SDG priorities and regulatory frameworks.
Orange Bond Impact Assessment- Lead corporate clients through the full impact lifecycle of Orange Bonds, focusing on embedding impact frameworks, monitoring systems, and reporting mechanisms throughout the process.
- Lead the impact-focused pre-issuance work by conducting ESG and gender-lens diagnostics, mapping bond proceeds to SDGs, and developing impact frameworks.
- Collaborate with IIX’s Finance team for transaction structuring and external reviews.
- Ensure impact data collection, impact reports, and investor communications are delivered effectively.
Impact Assurance & Orange Seal Integration- Ensure Orange Seal certification criteria are embedded for qualifying suppliers and value-chain partners.
- Validate KPI frameworks against market standards and maintain coherence between transaction design and impact strategy.
Post-Issuance Monitoring- Use IIX Values to monitor impact, produce impact reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Utilize impact data to advise regulators and policymakers, and publish insights to promote sustainable finance.
Integration of IIX Platforms- Embed IIX Values and IIX Intelligence into advisory mandates for robust analytics and reporting.
Team Leadership & Advisory Delivery- Build and mentor a high-performing ESG and sustainability advisory team.
- Ensure exceptional client service and project delivery across industries.
- Lead the integration of IIX’s impact platforms into client solutions.
Thought Leadership & Ecosystem Engagement- Represent IIX at forums and contribute to thought leadership.
- Engage with regulators, financial institutions, and stakeholders to promote Orange Bonds and systemic change.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of leadership experience in ESG advisory, impact finance, or corporate sustainability.
- Entrepreneurial, with prior P/L experience and ability to run an independent business unit.
- Proven success in building and scaling advisory or consulting practices with corporate clients.
- Deep experience working with corporates and financial institutions in South and Southeast Asia.
- Expertise in ESG regulation, supply chain sustainability, climate finance, or green bonds.
- Strong capital markets understanding and ability to integrate gender-lens investing.
- Excellent leadership, client management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Master’s degree in sustainability, finance, economics, or related field.
