Role and Responsibilities

Inlyte Energy is hiring a hands-on, applications-oriented Head of Energy Storage Solutions to shape and execute our go-to-market strategies across utility, commercial & industrial, data center, and critical power sectors. This role is responsible for developing conceptual designs, interfacing with customers, and informing product and business strategy. This individual contributor role reports to Inlyte’s Chief Commercial Officer and has near-term potential to grow into a team lead position as Inlyte scales. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to scale a technology backed by 40+ years of research in order to shape the electrical grid of tomorrow.

The role will require 50% travel, both domestic and international. We have a preference for Bay Area candidates but are open to a remote position. For this role you will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customer inquiries, technical discussions, and project scoping.
  • Design market and customer requirements for scalable battery system solutions, in collaboration with product engineering, using Inlyte’s iron-sodium technology across diverse applications.
  • Lead development of technical proposals, RFI/RFP responses, customer presentations, and project specifications.
  • Identify and build commercial partnerships
  • Serve as an externally-facing thought leader for Inlyte, engaging with trade associations and standards committees, and representing the company at conferences.
  • Translate customer requirements into system architecture and product feedback for engineering teams.
  • Work closely with commercial and technical teams to inform pricing strategy and margin analysis.
  • Shape Inlyte’s positioning in emerging segments like data center resilience and grid services.
  • Support early deployments with design, commissioning, and project execution guidance.
  • Lead retrospectives, document learnings, and scale customer success systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering or related technical field; MBA and advanced degree a plus.
  • 7+ years experience in energy storage, power systems, or distributed energy project development, or business development.
  • Experience with data center energy solutions.
  • Ability to lead conceptual design and customer conversations with minimal oversight.
  • Experience developing designs for energy storage and/or critical power applications.
  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory, interconnection, and incentive frameworks across U.S. markets.
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial or industrial energy projects.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment.
  • A champion of our Practices of Safety, Determination, Teamwork, Humility, and Joy.

Preferred Requirements

  • Familiarity with battery safety and compliance standards (e.g., UL 9540, NEC, NFPA 855).
  • Experience with long duration energy storage business development.
  • Strong insight into go-to-market strategy, channel development, or solution selling.
  • International project development experience.

Benefits

  • Incentive stock options based on Bay Area comps regardless of location
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance and short term disability (100% of employee’s insurance premium and 75% of dependents)
  • 40 hours of paid sick time
  • Hybrid commute option for Bay Area employees
  • Unlimited PTO policy
  • Compensation range for Bay Area: $173,000 - $215,000 depending on qualifications, location, and experience

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive community. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the qualifications.
