MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a high growth consumer goods business seeking a Head of Ecommerce. This is permanent role based in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a company focused on scaling its digital operations, particularly in new international markets such as the US and UK.

The Head of Online will report directly to the Board of Directors and be responsible for shaping and delivering the company’s e-commerce strategy across D2C channels and online marketplaces. A primary focus will be on expanding into new marketplaces and territories, leveraging the Plentymarkets ERP system to streamline operations and ensure success in international markets. This role is ideal for a senior e-commerce professional with experience in launching and scaling across multiple regions, including expertise in marketplace operations and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s digital strategy across D2C and marketplace platforms, with a focus on expanding into new territories such as the US and UK.
  • Present key performance updates, strategic plans, and growth projections directly to the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment with company objectives and long-term goals.
  • Lead initiatives to launch on new marketplace platforms (e.g., Amazon, eBay) and enter new international markets, with a focus on building a strong presence in the US and UK.
  • Oversee the optimization of the Plentymarkets e-commerce ERP system, ensuring its effective use to streamline operations, manage multi-channel sales, and enhance inventory control across regions.
  • Take full responsibility for the online P&L, managing budgets, and ensuring that all digital initiatives deliver strong ROI and profitability.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing e-commerce team, ensuring the structure and talent are in place to support business growth across all online channels.
  • Enhance the user experience on the company’s website and marketplace platforms by improving UX/UI, site speed, mobile optimization, and localized content.
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive performance, optimize traffic, increase conversion rates, and improve customer retention across all regions.
  • Work closely with other departments, including marketing, product development, and supply chain, to ensure smooth execution of online strategies and product launches.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements when entering new markets, especially in the US and UK.
  • Partner with the marketing team to drive traffic and sales through performance marketing strategies such as PPC, SEO, email marketing, and social media, ensuring efforts are aligned with market-specific goals.

What We Are Looking For?

  • Extensive experience in a senior e-commerce or digital leadership role, with a strong focus on D2C and marketplace channels.
  • Experience launching into new marketplaces and expanding into new territories, with a successful track record in the US and UK markets.
  • Hands-on experience with Plentymarkets e-commerce ERP system is preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen with full P&L responsibility for online channels.
  • Expertise in managing third-party marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, and other regional platforms.
  • Proven success in scaling e-commerce businesses internationally.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to build and manage teams across multiple regions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to drive data-based decisions and continuous optimization.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to present to the Board.
