Wagner Group GmbH in Niedersachsen is seeking a Head of Controlling (m/f/d) to lead the Controlling department, guiding budgeting, forecasting and reporting for the group. You will drive process optimization, digitalisation initiatives, and provide insights to management across national and international contexts.

The role requires a degree in economics or business administration with several years in management accounting, strong leadership experience, and a proactive, analytical mindset.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in economics, business administration or comparable field
• Several years’ experience in management accounting in international and SME contexts
• Extensive experience leading teams of at least five staff
• Experience implementing and developing management accounting processes and change management
• Excellent knowledge of cost accounting tools and project controlling, ideally in plant engineering
• Strong communication and facilitation across levels of management
• Digital mindset, self-motivation and goal-oriented attitude
• Business acumen and interest in IT with forecasting model skills

Aufgaben

• Lead and develop staff in the Controlling department with change management
• Serve as sparring partner for cost centre and market managers in national and international contexts
• Analyze, optimize and continuously improve existing controlling processes
• Establish and further develop a management-oriented reporting system
• Plan, implement and optimize budgeting and forecasting processes, including group consolidation
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce process costs and increase digitalisation
• Review monthly group financial statements and assess ongoing projects for annual accounts
• Prepare variance analyses and conduct ad hoc analyses

What you can expect from us

• Management and professional development of staff in the Controlling department, taking into account change management processes within the group of companies
• A sparring partner for cost centre and market managers on business management issues in both national and international contexts
• Analysis, optimisation and continuous improvement of existing controlling processes
• Establishment and further development of a management-oriented reporting system
• Responsibility for the planning, implementation and optimisation of budgeting and forecasting processes, including consolidation at group level
• Identification and implementation of opportunities for optimisation to reduce process costs and increase the level of digitalisation
• Review of the monthly financial statements of the group companies and assessment of ongoing projects as part of the annual accounts
• Preparation of variance analyses and carrying out ad hoc and special analyses

What characterizes you

• A successfully completed degree in economics, business administration or a comparable field of study
• Several years’ professional experience in management accounting, both within an international corporate environment and in an owner-managed SME
• Extensive experience of leading teams of at least five staff members
• Extensive experience in the implementation and further development of management accounting processes, as well as in change management processes
• Excellent knowledge of cost accounting tools and project controlling, ideally in plant engineering
• Strong communication and facilitation skills across different levels of management and organisational units
• Strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills, a high degree of self-reflection, and confidence in dealing with complex organisational structures
• Ability to combine flexible thinking with a structured approach to work
• A digital mindset, a high level of self-motivation, and a goal-oriented and enthusiastic approach
• A strong business acumen, a keen interest in IT, and the ability to apply various planning methods and forecasting models with confidence
