What you will do

Volkswagen ClimatePartner GmbH is a joint venture by Volkswagen Kraftwerk GmbH and ClimatePartner GmbH, aiming to develop and finance quality climate projects. As Head (m/f/d) of the Carbon Project Development Team, you will be responsible for the team, its strategy, and all project-related tasks including origination, financing, development, and operation of forestry, agriculture, and renewable energy projects. You will serve as a main contact for customers, continuously assessing their needs and providing suitable solutions.

You will report directly to the Managing Directors and collaborate closely with teams such as Legal, Finance, and Market Intelligence.

Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Lead the climate project development team, guiding up to 10 cross-sectoral team members
  • Coordinate project planning, timelines, financing, and reporting of a comprehensive carbon project portfolio
  • Plan strategically regarding volume and cost expectations
  • Manage origination activities for new project development opportunities
  • Act as interface between project development and supporting teams, as well as customers
  • Prepare and present project opportunities to an investment committee
  • Proactively network with relevant organizations, project owners, developers, technology providers, industry associations, multilateral organizations, and government agencies
  • Participate in relevant events and conferences to expand the project partner network
Who you are
  • At least 7+ years of experience in climate change projects, with knowledge of CDM, VCS, and Gold Standard methodologies
  • At least 5+ years of experience leading teams or departments
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong network within the climate project field
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects and portfolio planning
  • Enthusiasm for developing new partnerships, generating business, closing deals, and expanding networks
  • Strong leadership skills to guide an interdisciplinary and multicultural team
  • Excellent customer orientation and key account management experience
  • Fluent in English; German skills are a plus
