About

We are collaborating with a global renewable energy company who has a strong track record in solar and energy storage development. They are looking for a Head of Business Development who will lead all commercial development activities in Germany. This includes identifying, developing, and delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, storage, hybrid, etc.) through greenfield development, co-development partnerships, and M&A transactions. The role is based in Berlin.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the origination, development, and commercial negotiation of renewable energy projects in Germany.
  • Define and execute the business development strategy for Germany in alignment with wider regional and global objectives.
  • Act as the company’s primary representative in Germany, both internally and externally.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive development team.
  • Foster a collaborative work culture across local and centralised functions.
  • Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and external forums as required.
  • Oversee commercial negotiations and work with legal and technical teams to ensure project success.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities in related technologies (e.g., battery storage, hybrid systems, agrivoltaics, green hydrogen).
  • Prepare and present materials to internal investment committees for project approvals.
  • Maintain and expand a strong industry network, including regulators, partners, and market influencers.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Significant leadership experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, or BESS), ideally within the German market.
  • Proven track record of originating and delivering large-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Expertise in project development, M&A, and navigating regulatory frameworks in Germany.
  • Experience leading stakeholder engagement with government bodies, regulators, and commercial entities.
  • Skilled in commercial deal-making and investment structuring.
  • Strategic thinker with experience scaling businesses or business units.
  • Fluent in German and English.
