Siemens Energy in Erlangen seeks a Head of Business Applications for Engineering & Project Platforms to lead the development and delivery engine behind the applications that enable Engineering and Project Execution across our Grid Technologies business.

You will own end-to-end responsibility for PLM, Solution Engineering, Project Management platforms and the wider ecosystem, guiding a global team and external partners to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing capabilities.

A Snapshot of Your Day

As Head of Business Applications for Engineering & Project Platforms, you will lead the development and delivery engine behind the applications that enable Engineering and Project Execution across our global Grid Technologies business.

You will take end-to-end accountability for a critical application portfolio spanning Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Solution Engineering, Project Management platforms and the wider Project Management ecosystem. These solutions support everything from the design and engineering of our products through to the successful delivery of complex customer projects on time and within budget.

Reporting to the Head of Business Applications, you will be a key member of the GT DS Business Applications leadership team, translating our broader digital strategy and roadmap into scalable, reliable and high-performing capabilities for our Engineering and Project communities.

Your day will combine people leadership, technology strategy, portfolio management and operational delivery. You will lead internal teams and external partners, oversee major digital programs, ensure the stability of business-critical platforms and work closely with Engineering and Project Management leaders to understand their needs and turn them into effective digital solutions.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Lead, inspire and develop a global team of internal and external application managers, engineers and solution owners across Solution Engineering, PLM Solution, PLM Foundation and Project Execution.
• Build strong partnerships with Grid Technologies Engineering and Project Management Process Owners, alongside the GT DS Governance & Digital Architecture team, ensuring technology solutions align with end-to-end business processes.
• Take accountability for the Engineering & Project Platforms application portfolio, reviewing the existing landscape and developing a clear strategy to improve performance, simplify the environment and reduce legacy complexity.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of major engineering and project application programs, including PLM and Project Management platforms, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to high standards of quality.
• Manage internal and external service providers, creating an effective partner and vendor ecosystem that delivers against business, technology and service expectations.
• Drive the modernization of the engineering application landscape, introducing modern technologies, practices and delivery approaches that increase productivity across Engineering and Project teams.
• Support the transition towards an Agile operating model, embedding modern software engineering and delivery practices across the organization.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of the Engineering & Project Platforms portfolio, making strategic decisions around technology selection, investment, modernization and rationalization of legacy applications.
• Ensure the operational stability, availability, performance and security of business-critical Engineering and Project applications, delivering consistently against agreed service levels.
• Work effectively with Siemens Energy's global Digital Core Value Centers and external partners to ensure solutions delivered outside your direct organization integrate seamlessly into the wider GT application landscape.
• Establish a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and operational excellence, ensuring technology investments translate into measurable improvements for the business.

What You'll Bring

• Extensive experience in a senior technology leadership role, managing global application development and operations teams within complex industrial, engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Significant leadership experience across Engineering, PLM and Project Management platforms, with a strong understanding of how technology supports engineering and project execution processes.
• Proven accountability for technology strategy, budgets, vendor ecosystems, contract negotiations and service performance.
• The ability to translate complex business and engineering requirements into scalable technology solutions, connecting technology investment decisions to measurable business outcomes.
• Strong transformation and change leadership experience, with a track record of successfully delivering technology, process and organizational transformation across globally distributed organizations.
• A solid understanding of modern technology architectures and platforms, including Azure, AWS, data architecture and AI/ML applications.
• Strong knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL/ITSM), application portfolio management and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies and frameworks including Agile, SAFe, Scrum, DevOps and CI/CD.
• A proven ability to lead and develop global, distributed and multidisciplinary teams, including coaching leaders and building organizational capability.
