Who We Are - Our Mission

terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage.
The shift toward renewable energy has fundamentally changed how the power grid operates. Because wind and solar are weather-dependent, their output is intermittent; the sun doesn't always shine when demand is highest, and wind speeds vary. This mismatch creates volatility that traditional grid infrastructure wasn't designed to handle alone. The grid requires constant, real-time balancing. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) provide this necessary flexibility by absorbing excess power during periods of high production and discharging it when supply drops.
By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products to utilities, SMEs, and industrial players and create virtual storage capacity for PV and wind farms.

What We Are Hiring For - Your Role

We are looking for a Head of Accounting (m/f/d) to join our Finance team. In this role, you will take full ownership of Accounting, Tax, and Audit across our group entities and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of our financial records and processes across countries. You will lead all core accounting operations, oversee intercompany accounting & consolidation, and act as the central counterpart for auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders. Your work will be critical in building a scalable and reliable finance function for terralayr's continued growth.

What You Will Work On - Your Responsibilities

At a high level you are helping to build this company and to shape the tools and processes necessary to becoming a leading player in its field. terralayr is growing fast and to address this growth the accounting function needs to keep pace by constantly improving and up-skilling. In particular you will:

  • Own and oversee accounting operations across all group entities, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, reconciliations, and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes and consolidations
  • Take full responsibility for the preparation and review of financial statements under local GAAP, while supporting group-level reporting requirements and ensuring audit readiness at all times
  • Own and coordinate all tax-related topics across countries in close collaboration with external tax advisors, including VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing related matters, and other local filing requirements
  • Lead all audit processes and act as the main point of contact for auditors, ensuring efficient coordination, timely delivery of documentation, and high-quality responses
  • Intercompany accounting across the group, including reconciliations, recharges, eliminations, and the setup of robust processes for both domestic and cross-border intercompany transactions
  • Have full ownership of accounting policies, internal controls, closing processes, and documentation standards to support scale, accuracy, and compliance. You will drive continous improvements in these areas
  • Support the broader Finance function with accounting input for budgeting, cash planning, product design, fundraising, due diligence, and other strategic projects
What We Are Looking For - Your Qualifications
  • Education: Completed vocational training or university degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field. A qualification such as Steuerfachangestellter, Bilanzbuchhalter, Steuerberater, or a comparable background is highly valued
  • Experience: 7+ years of relevant work experience in accounting, tax, and audit, ideally across both a tax advisory or audit environment and an in-house finance function. Experience in an international, fast-growing company is a plus
  • Leadership & ownership: Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to independently lead the full accounting agenda across multiple entities and stakeholders
  • Accounting knowledge: Strong knowledge of HGB. Solid understanding of tax and audit processes in Germany is required. Exposure to international structures and IFRS is a plus
  • Mindset: Willingness to help build this company. We are a young company that has grown fast. We need both a hands on approach as well as the vision to transform
  • Intercompany & multi-entity complexity: Proven experience managing intercompany transactions and accounting across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions. While the majority of the business currently is in Germany, we have legal entities in Switzerland and the UK
  • Communication & language: Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and German. German language skills at C2 level are required
  • Tools: Proficiency in DATEV, Lucanet and other relevant accounting and ERP tools
