Covenant is seeking a hands-on Facility Technician to support the setup, daily operations, and long-term maintenance of our new production facility in Leipzig. You will work closely with Manufacturing, EHS, Management, and external service providers to uphold the highest facility standards.

The role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and general trade skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage preventive maintenance and coordinate with contractors.

Qualifications

• Completed technical vocational training (Ausbildung) in a trade such as Electrician, Mechatronics, HVAC, Industrial Mechanic, Facility Technician, or similar.
• 2+ years of hands-on facility maintenance or industrial upkeep experience.
• Strong technical understanding of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and building infrastructure systems.

Responsabilités

• Manage daily facility operations, inspections, general maintenance, and repairs across infrastructure, heating, lighting, water, sanitary facilities, doors, gates, and installations.
• Perform independent repairs and troubleshooting (plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry) and coordinate with external service providers for complex work.
• Operate and maintain facility equipment including forklifts and lifting equipment to support daily operations.
• Assist with setup, modification, expansion, and reconfiguration of production areas, workstations, and storage spaces.
• Establish and maintain site security measures, access control, cameras, visitor management, and locks in coordination with security provider.
• Own preventive maintenance schedules and document technical information.
• Maintain high standards of workplace safety, waste management, and 5S; support winter service and general housekeeping.
• Assist with emergency preparedness, fire safety, and compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to increase facility reliability and efficiency.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on, highly proactive, and versatile Facility Technician (Hausmeister) to support the setup, daily operations, and long-term maintenance of our new production facility in Leipzig. As part of a fast-growing company in the aerospace and defense industry, you will play an important role in building and maintaining a safe, secure, and highly efficient working environment.

You will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and general trade skills, working closely with Manufacturing, EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), Management, and external service providers to maintain the highest facility standards.

What You'll Do

• Daily Facility Operations & Maintenance: Manage daily facility operations, routine inspections, general maintenance, and repairs across infrastructure, heating, lighting, water, sanitary facilities, doors, gates, and technical installations.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Perform repairs and technical troubleshooting independently (plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, general building infrastructure) and coordinate external service providers/contractors for specialized or complex maintenance work.
• Equipment & Infrastructure Operation: Operate and maintain facility equipment, including forklifts, lifting equipment, and technical infrastructure to support daily operations.
• Production & Workplace Support: Support the setup, modification, expansion, and reconfigurations of production areas, workstations, storage areas, office spaces, and facility infrastructure.
• Site Security & Access Control: Establish and maintain site security measures and protocols, including managing access control systems, surveillance cameras, visitor management, lock fixtures, keys, and building security in coordination with our security provider.
• Preventive Maintenance & Inspections: Take ownership of preventive maintenance schedules, facility inspections, building supply inventory management, and technical documentation.
• Workplace Safety, Housekeeping & 5S: Ensure strict adherence to high standards of workplace safety, EHS regulations, general housekeeping, waste management, seasonal groundskeeping, winter service (Winterdienst), and 5S across the facility.
• Emergency Preparedness & Fire Safety: Support emergency preparedness, fire protection measures, local building safety protocols, and compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
• Continuous Improvement & Agility: Identify and implement continuous improvements to increase facility reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. React quickly and flexibly to unexpected technical issues, changing priorities, and urgent operational requirements.

Requirements

• Vocational Training: Completed technical vocational training (Ausbildung), ideally as an Electrician (Elektriker), Mechatronics Technician, HVAC Technician (SHK), Industrial Mechanic, Facility Technician, or a comparable technical trade qualification.
• Practical Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance, technical building operations, industrial upkeep, or general technical trade work.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong technical understanding and practical abilities in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and building infrastructure systems, using hand/power tools safely.
• Equipment & Licenses: Practical experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, lifting platforms, or similar equipment with required operating certificates/licenses (Gabelstaplerschein). Valid Driver’s License (Class B or equivalent).
• Safety & Security Awareness: Solid understanding and high awareness of workplace safety, fire protection, emergency procedures, building safety protocols, and facility security requirements.
• Problem Solving & Hands-on Mindset: Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues, handle physical tasks, and execute practical repairs on the spot.
• Vendor & Service Coordination: Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating, accompanying, and supervising external contractors, suppliers, and municipal inspectors.
• Languages: Fluent / Professional proficiency in German; basic English skills are beneficial.

preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing, high-tech, or aerospace/defense facility.
• Certifications in fire safety (Brandschutzhelfer), first aid, or workplace safety.
